I Am Grateful

“Do I have to go out there?” Feels like -23.

We procrastinated putting plastic film over all the indoor items that allow air in because we were spoiled by the warm December 30 degree temps.

I’ve never slept with SO many clothing layers, blankets, or with a hat & gloves on. Made me truly appreciate how fortunate I am compared to those without power these days or a roof over their head. Let alone basic necessities.

Thread titles of I’m grateful & blessed when an incoming watch pic is shared kinda miss the mark IMHO. What are you grateful for?

I perfectly understand that! I’ve been excited too; maybe it’s the “wording” that gets me. As others say, first world problems. Maybe it’s the current market also. Some may feel blessed & grateful that their AD got them their desired watch. I was just sayin’.

my 20 year old chihuahua doesn't care for cold weather. He pewps in my wife's closet on cold days. He and I both find this hilarious; the wife not so much

I lay potty pads down for days like this, yet she lays atop them as if they’re blankets.

I always love your Norma pics & stories. The reactions of all upon your return from Switzerland says it all.

Love the dog. And the message. Sort of.

Kind of shames people for being grateful for their good fortune. Those that like watches use that good fortune…to buy watches. And this is a place to celebrate that. Just sayin.

Personally, my dog is likely what I’m most grateful for. She’s my ride or die. But I’m super grateful for the life I get to live, and the life I get to provide to her. My folks. My friends. And all the opportunities I have had. Both the ones I failed on, and the ones I capitalized on.

Grateful I have the ability to make the choices I want in life. But being a watch forum, I’m also grateful for hearing the stories of folks grateful for getting something they enjoy in life.

I'm grateful we managed to get through the 2023 fire season without having to evacuate.

Such a cute dog Janet.

Yesterday I had to leave Florida unexpectedly at the last moment and fly into Ontario. The airport was closed so had to land in Toronto and wait for safer conditions. Finally made it to my destinations airport at night. No exit tunnel from the plane. Down the steps and across the tarmac , around 10 F and very heavy winds. I’ll be glad to get back in a few days.

I apologize folks, I didn’t mean to offend!
I definitely understand being grateful & blessed for good fortune in life, and yes, that good fortune allows us to buy watches. When presented THAT way, I agree. It’s the “AD was gracious to me…allowed me…I’m blessed because of this watch…etc.” Current market, hype, social media or “flexing”? (another thread today) is what rubs me the wrong way. Linguists & context matter…IMO. My wording was lacking too in that regard it appears.

You have a great mindset regarding the opportunities presented to you! The ones you’ve failed on & capitalized on.

I can’t even fathom how scary & nerve wracking that would be! Hopefully, you won’t encounter any future events like that. I have a friend whose family lost everything to a house fire; another from H.S. whose father was severely disfigured, but alive & now well.

Thanks! Stay safe out there; the weather pattern for many is treacherous right now. Hopefully, the need for a last moment, unexpected trip ended on the positive side. Good to see ya again Michelle; say hi to Art.

I am a type A person and have always been driven to achieve the next goal. The inherent problem for people like me is that we often fail to slow down, reflect on all we have accomplished and be grateful for the good in our lives. So, for me, being grateful has been a huge, conscious and wonderful part of my life.

I Am Grateful

Amen, brother. Amen. I’ll never forget my youngest son and I escaping from the in Santa Rosa, several years back. It was hard to find a clear route out of town. I live in an area that is somewhat safer, now, but still vulnerable.

I am most grateful for my new husband. After one failed marriage, and then suddenly losing my wonderful second husband, after 12 years, I had resigned myself to spending the rest of my life alone. The thing is, I don’t do well, on my own. So, I prayed about it, and asked God to send me a new boyfriend, for Christmas. That was 5 years ago. In an effort to help my cause, I joined a dating website, and saw John’s pic. Then I read his profile. He was a retired pharmacist, and had been widowed, as well. I was a retired RN. So I messaged him. We talked. Our first date was Christmas Day. We’ve been inseparable since. We were married this past October. So, God answered my prayer, and I am very thankful.

Beautiful pic Kat; the look in both of your eyes says it all. May the 3rd time be the charm, where you enjoy each other’s company in good health for many years to come.

Thanks, Janet. My Matron of Honor could see his face during the ceremony, and said to me later, “I’d kill to have a man look at me like that.” It made me feel bad……for her, since she’s been married for many years.

Agree with all of this, grateful for everything but it's all dependant on the fundamentals being there first.

I love this William!
It took me awhile to see the silver lining of some pretty negative experiences I went through 10 yrs. ago. In time, my perspective changed immensely to one of gratitude. As the sayings go, things could always be worse, and this too shall pass.

+1

Update: I learned the boiler is our Bldg has not been functioning properly for 2 days. That, along with us not installing the plastic film on in time made our indoor temp worse. A technician is here now to look things over.

And the dog still doesn’t want to go out… can’t blame her!
