5712g-001 is coming
Hey guys, got a call from AD for 5712g-001. How do you guys think about the leather strap and yes, it was discontinued. Probably this is not people's favourite 5712 (with leather strap) variant but its grey dial is stunning.
You guys' opinions on whether I should take it or not. |

Take it if you like it and don't if you don't. I would not take it.

Great watch on either the strap or the bracelet. Go for it.

I’d leave it. More attractive watches at that price.

In the Nautilus sporty-elegant category, it's more elegant, hence depending on how you were it, would work even better with a suit.
However, the bracelet is part of the design of the whole watch to me and the bracelet's execution and finishing is a significant part of what makes a Nautilus exceptional (like for a RO), thus, wearing pleasure (beyond its excellent comfort). Again, it depends on what you're looking for and what your tastes are but, to me, it's a bracelet version or not. |

I would say go for it. If the leather strap is not to your liking, just replace it with rubber for a more sport feel.

I've heard others say they built credibility with their AD and were offered more pieces after turning down a nautilus. You benefit with both choices

some say that a nautilus must be on a bracelet. i do disagree, the leather/rubber strap version look very very good IMHO (mostly better that aquanauts) and they are more 'wearable' and less conspicuous than the bracelet version. my top wearer among the nautilus is the 5980R, i would certainly take the 5712G if offered. it has that sporty/elegent feeling which i love.

Really like it on bracelet or leather, and rubber. I’d put it on an orange or brightly colored strap for fun, spices up the fairly dull grey dial. Leather for business wear etc…

Just my opinion but a Nautilus belongs on a bracelet. I do not like the leather variants as it is meant to be an integrated slim “sport watch”. Can you pass and hold out for a Nautilus on bracelet?

I love my 5712g-001, I got it from secondary market at a higher price but not too bad. My first choice was 5712R with full bracelet but the secondary market price is ridiculous high.
If you can get at msrp, it would be a hard pass.
