78790A clasp/end link code

Just picked up a NOS 78790A with solid end links and had a question regarding mismatched clasp and end link codes. The clasp is stamped CP12 and the inside of the endlinks are stamped K6V. I was under the impression that end links should have the same code as the clasp?

End links are totally different from clasp codes.

I think that what you are seeing is a combination of the last regular date codes and the later random date code.

The CP12 could likely be the last month in 2011 while the K6V a random code introduced in 2010. This would put both parts in the same build-date window which has always been within a year or so, code wise.

Thank you for that information, reassuring indeed.
