I just acquired:

A PAM000164 J Series:

Is it a 40 or 44??? (Please note the sarcasm...see pic below)

You would think you get longer straps with such a larger watch???

Ben,huge congrats on the PAM and a very warm welcome to the forum !!

Yup,the choice of strap length from Panerai leaves much to be desired.Looking at your pics, even the 115/95 will be a touch short.I would suggest something like eg. Kevin/BigB ammo in 25/25 and 95/165 for your 164.Will look great !!

The croc strap is nice, but too formal for my everyday wear. So, a couple of "Panerainoob" questions:

Where would I find these Kevin/BigB Ammo Straps?

Do you guys try to use original Panerai buckles/deployments? Or is the buckle/deployment also a "signature" from the artisan that created your strap? [EDIT: found my answer, as most original Panerai buckles/deployments are made for tapered straps from 24 down to 22, and most aftermarket straps are 24 straight through, the original Panerai ones won't fit most aftermarket straps.]

Where can I get extra Panerai tools?

Where can I get extra tubes/spring bars/etc? Do you recommend original Panerai or aftermarket?

THANKS!

Beautiful piece. I prefer the Arabic numbers over markers. A definite keeper for a very very long time. Enjoy!

they are pricey...

Where can i get extra panerai tools? Call up the boutiques. In beverly Hills ask for chad warrick

where can i get extra tubes/spring bars/etc? Do you recommend original panerai or aftermarket? I ordered a strap from greg stevens (great service) he throws in extra sets of tubes...i don't find that i need new spring bars but they are available online or ask boutique
enjoy!

you are going to find that the straps are another whole new world...

Grab a toothpick in replacement of your Panerai pusher, screwdriver from any hardware store or from tools4watches http://www.network54.com/Forum/35339...aseback+Opener

tubes can be obtained from your nearby ADs for free or from the bay at minimum cost. Be cautious some of the aftermarket tubes are slightly longer than the original ones so have to sand them shorter in order not to scratch the inner lugs.Imo tubes are for the historic or the screw in models. Not so much for the models with the quick strap change system.
