EXP II w/ Black Bezel... (photo shop)
The traditionalist might not like this, and I am just having some fun, so please do not stone me! Read on... while the photo below is taken from the Bamford custom watch site out of England, it appears they can and will create this Bezel for the new Explorer II. It got me thinking... hey, what would the EXP II in a white dial look like w/ a Black Bezel?
Do any of you have Photoshop? If so, would you like to entertain the forum with a photo shopped photo of the EXP II w/ a white dial/black bezel combo? and hey, as long as someone steps up, why not have a side by side comparison of the EXP II with a Black dial/Black Bezel! I have been way to serious on the forum lately, and I am ready to have some fun. Anyone? |

I kind of like it, and I'm usually one to not like such mods. Do that to a white dialed one when you have time. Would like seeing that too.

Black Dial EXP II
Anyone good w/ photo shop that can do a White dial EXP II w/ a black Bezel? Bamford will "color" the Bezel (not sure at what cost), but just "looking for the look" to see how good, or bad, it is. Anyone?
The nice thing about this mod, is that the original rolex bezel can easily be swapped over to take it back to original. Throw on a black bezel and a RubberB strap and you have a whole different look, which can easily be reversed! |

I didn't think the bezel is removed as easily as a Sub, but maybe I'm missing something ;)

Is their an AD reading this who can secure me a EXP II 42mm Bezel so I can pursue this? While I am at it, how about a white dial for this same watch? Please PM me if so. Thanks!
p.s. Change up the bezel, dial color, and put on a watch band like this https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=253038 and several different looks are available for a watch I will wear for 10 years or so (the same length of time I have had my current Rolex). I like the ability to change it up a little. It's why I am drawn to the sports watch instead of the Presidential I am selling. |

I'd prefer any Rolex to specs... to each his own.

The bezel is too hard to read - I would have the numbers in white enamel, similar to what Sinn did with the black bezel on the U1 (pic below, along with standard bezel for reference)
Also, having the word 'stealth' on the dial is rather uncool

Agreed - no "stealth" on dial. I would like to see a black EXP II dial, with the numbers in silver (not unlike the first photo in thread, of a real watch Bamford company made). I have contacted these guys to see if I can just obtain the black Bezel from them... no word back yet.

That black dial/SS/black bezel Exp II looks great, but how easy is a bezel swap on these?

But then it would be shinny and lose it's fantastic tool look. It would have to be a matte black to make it look good.

I think you would have to send your watch to them - I don't believe they would supply parts. These custom outfits tend to supply the new watch and then charge for every little thing they do to it. The end result is breathtakingly expensive A few people here have used Bamford, Project X, Pro Hunter, and others. One chap sent his Sub LV for a 'milspec' conversion, which included grinding off the crown guards... www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=130204 followed by... www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=139894

I would like to see a ceramic bezel for the new EXP II, but I don't see that happening in the next 5 years. I have two emails into Bamford, and have received nothing back yet on how they handle the bezel. I won't send them my watch, but I would send them a bezel to work on, if they ever get back to me.

I like the first one, but I don't know how I feel about the "BAMFORD" silkscreened on the face.

I like the black bezel on the Exp2. I think it looks better than the original thing.

Eh...than it just looks like the every other GMT and sub out there...just buy one of those and leave the ExpII alone.
That's already a problem with the sports line, they already look far too similar. And one of the major visual features that the Exp II has that is unique is what you want to change? To each their own I guess... |
