Blro mark i and mark ii

Hello and happy new year to you all,

I am interested in purchasing a BLRO, in the classifieds I see people post Mark one and mark two, what exactly is the difference between the two, they look the same to me?

Thank you all in advance.

There is a rumored slight variation in the blue/red coloring in the bezel...that’s all.

Next time try the search function...you’ll find a whole heck of a lot of info here. Just for example:

Not really a rumour and not really that slight in person

I think it’s fair to say there has been enough debate on here to not definitively say one way or another, which is pretty much the definition of a rumor.

Does anybody deny there is a difference now? There are plenty of well lit side by sides all over the internet. I’m not saying this means i or ii should be worth more/less, but there is a difference.

I myself think there is a slight variation in the color, sure. Let’s say for the purposes of the argument there is a Mark 1, 2 and 3 right now....so if Rolex adjusts the coloring again and all of a sudden they start producing the coloring similar to Mark 1, it would surely be a Mark 1 right even though it came after the Mark 3? I’m still fairly new around here but there is no definitive way of telling what you have...it’s not like the Flat 4 or the MK 1 vs 2 dial on the SD43. It’s a good looking BLRO and that’s all I really care about.

Just my thoughts.

Everybody wants to find something and label it a mk of some sort.

They are pretty much meaningless except to provide a sort of time progression.

This is how we "dated" our watches before Internet charts; by the small differences that were noted.

There is no debate. There are 3 distinct versions. Once you see a 1 vs a 2 or 3 in person you will understand.

There are some people in denial or that like to troll, but there are indeed 3 versions. Yes different versions look different in different lighting conditions. But overall 2 and 3 are darker than 1 in the same lighting. And it most definitely matters as once you see say a mk1 vs a mk3 in sunlight you will understand.

Definitely a variation in Colour the MK2 is darker , I have both examples and much prefer the MK2 but the MK1 was a wedding anniversary gift with the warranty card dated to our WA . So ill keep both

Which one would be the best investment
Would it be the mark 1 being the first
Or the mark 2 which never had a long time run
Or even the mark 3

Its a matter really of personal taste. Would prefer the darker colors (MK3) which think resembles more the blue and red of the old steel 16710 BLRO insert while others prefer the lighter colors (MK1 or 2) as they say MK3 looks more like a Coke insert (red / black)

Surprised nobody has mentioned the Mark 1.5. That’s the real collectors item.

Regardless of what anyone says about whether or not you can call them mk1 2 or 3 there is no question there are different color variations. So the important thing is that you buy the one that has your color preference. Use the search function and look through all the threads, just to see the different photos at the least.

Whether people like to admit it or not, other purchasing factors might come into play when deciding between variation designations, but again the most important thing is that you choose the right color for you.

I personally like what is called by most the mark 2. I bit of a darker, closer to navy blue in mixed bright light.

Here’s a thread I started a little while back after seeing in person three variations...

I was looking at a grey advert for one recently and they actually stated that it had the ‘latest bezel’, though of course this is basic marketing.

Anyway, where’s Padi - he’ll clear this up!

I like the MK 2.75 best, when I get the call and go to collect and it’s anything other than a MK 2.75 I shall be passing on it......

Exactly.

No one argues that there aren’t color variations, but what is debatable is the production timeline.

Many experts on the MK1,2,3 subject, suggest that the first release dates were Basel 2018 to about September 2018 ~ MK1. Then in Sept/October the MK2 was released. The MK3 came along much later in the cycle.

It looks like Rolex must be back to producing MK1’s OR the only woman at Rolex who knows how to concoct the colors is messing with us because there was a recent incoming thread here and the coloring looked exactly as what’s been described as MK1.

This leads me to believe the colors simply vary from batch to batch in the manufacturing process vs. a deliberate color scheme difference by timeline.

Problem with color though is that we all see it differently, so even Rolex can’t confirm what MK bezel you have

When we hit, say MK6, can someone produce a colour chart of all the variations so we can track these and their values? I think certain MK’s will be worth more than others, so it will become an important point of reference...
