Thanks

My opinion for the crater or "moonscape" box production years would be from around 1980 until 1988. It was followed by the green world map box. (Crater boxes were not used in the USA - instead, the Bufkor boxes in various versions were utilized in the USA.)

The first generation crater or "moonscape" box had a slotted card on the inside that held the watch. Around mid-production, the card was replaced by a padded cushion which held the watch.

Thanks, Springer. Would an S-serial in the Asian market not be period-correct?

I wish mine had come with a crater box. Mine was purchased in Jan 82 in Germany and it came with this box

I do not know for sure. I would expect it to have the world map box.

I do know from being a Rolex collector for a few decades now that collectors and dealers often add incorrect boxes to go with a watch or watch set.

Yes, correct. Whatever was available at the shop.

I have "craters", in 2. 1983, and 1994. For steel watches.

The red, is white gold bezel ( wife )
