Glashutte PanoMatic Lunar Question
Hope that those of you familiar with this watch in both the blue and white dials might offer some opinions and possibly some wrist shots.
My elderly father many months ago told me he would like to buy me a watch of my choosing to remember him by when he is gone as I do so much to help take care of him and my mother. Originally I thought maybe a Daytona but the reality is there are so many more unique and beautiful watches out there I decided to have some fun, involve my father, and really enjoy the process of finding what will be a lifetime watch that will one day be passed down to my son. We have enjoyed looking at a wide range online and i also tried on several different models prior to Covid. I have decided on the PanoMatic Lunar as most of my other watches are sport models and I wanted something that leaned towards the dress side of things. I also wanted something a little "different" so the fact that this is German made instead of Swiss made also appealed to me. Now for the dilemma. I have seen the blue dial in person liked it and thought that is what I wanted. However after reading many of the threads on this watch here in the forums i see mostly white dials and I have to admit they look pretty awesome. I am now undecided which to get. I am retired so will not being wearing for work. Mostly with jeans button down shirts etc. Any and all thoughts will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Nice post.
I don't have this watch, but the white looks pretty nice. It has a bit of a sheen to it. I have tried it on and am seriously considering getting it, though I keep thinking about the Lange 1 also... There is a also a limited edition version with a salmon dial which looks pretty nice in the pictures, though being a limited edition expect to pay full price at the boutique. You might also want to consider getting the steel bracelet now, and get a leather strap later. I would think buying a separate steel bracelet later will end up costing much more now. |

Question. On the current model it appears that the dial is more of a silver white rather "pure" white. Would you agree with that. Thanks again. |

I just bought a panoreserve a month ago. Personally, I prefer the blue the best as it's a little more dressy IMO. The gray is a very close second. White is third for me, but the blue hands are mesmerizing.

I have definitely decided on the white dial if I go with the leather strap but maybe leaning towards the blue dial if i go with the bracelet. With Covid I have too much time on my hands to over think this. I showed my father who is buying this for me both dials and he prefers the white on leather blue on bracelet but he thinks the watch looks best on the leather. He understands the practicality of the bracelet and does not want to influence my decision.

I just made a point and shot pic without editing so you can compare the dial colors. I will say the old is silver and the current
one have a tiny cream color but if you only look at that one alone you will say that is silver too.

Perhaps you could let your father decide, I don’t think you could go wrong with either colour! With him choosing the colour it could add to the sentimental value that the timepiece will have for you. Glashütte Original is a great choice regardless, most underrated company in the watch industry imo. Congratulations.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies! I have ordered the white dial with the bracelet. In addition I have ordered the leather strap and deployment buckle so I can change it out on those times when I want something dressier.
I ordered from Rob at Topper Jewelers who has been great to work with. I hope to have the watch by the end of the week as he had to order it in from Glashutte. I will post pictures when it arrives. |

Jocke's photographs have probably sold more PanoMatic Lunar than GO official advertising.
I was also undecided between blue and white. I had a chance to try both and the blue did not sing to me. For me the contrast between the blue hands and the white dial make it more interesting. Depending on lighting and angle the dial changes from white to cream. These are some photos of mine under different lighting. Well, that was actually a cheapo silicon band that I had on the watch for a couple of days before I received the original band. I typically keep it on the alligator band and while it is true that the watch can be dressed down a bit I see it’s true nature as business casual/formal watch.
