Explorer II Upcoming...

Has anyone heard or seen any information that would lead them to think the new model of the Explorer II would have a black bezel for a better visual look? I saw a mock up on a YouTube video and thought...damn that would look really nice.

I’ve often said that there is something wrong with the way it looks in my eye, and when I saw it with the black bezel in the mock up I realized that was what it was missing...

God I hope not. It would make zero sense from a functional perspective. Rolex going trough all that R&D money designing state of the art shock absorbers for the exp line, only to invalidate it by incorporating brittle ceramic for its bezel. Talk about pointless.

There has been a lot of speculation about the next gen ExpII, and I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

IMHO I’d like to see them leave the bezel treatment as is. Not every Rolex professional needs to have a ceramic bezel

Explorer II Upcoming...

The Exp II was designed as a caving watch hence all steel...... and ceramic + rock = expensive. But there should be a 50th anniversary model out for 2021. I’m hoping for a full redo along the lines of the “McQueen” but would settle for better dial/hand proportions. I had a 216570 black but sold it because after a couple of years with it I realized those components were just all out of whack. Everything but the huge orange gmt hand..... loved that.

I would hate to see a ceramic bezel on the Explorer II

Ceramic bezel wouldn't be a good idea for Explorer II

From all the speculation about ceramic, I am on the lookout for one.

Big mistake if they go ceramic IMO.

Something like this?

Putting a black bezel on it will make it look like everything else. I don't suppose it will do much harm to the desirability and value of the SS bezel models. Probably the opposite.

I have my Polar, so as far as I'm concerned they can do what they like. I suspect Rolex won't take it's unique identity away, but who knows?

I like it because it doesn't have a ceramic bezel. The brushed steel looks great in certain slants of light. Plus it's still old school cool. The best watch in their line-up for me: doesn't look like a Rolex, no-one ever notices it, larger so that I can see the time with those fat hands, thin case, fits svelte and cool like me.

Or just like a white dial Omega 300 with black bezel? No point...

I would rather see it discontinued than with a ceramic bezel.

I like it as it is, but would be fine with a ceramic bezel - even better if they made it luminous.
What I would really like to see is a Triplock crown.
