14060m vs 16600 with a catch

Hi everyone, I know the 14060m v 16600 has come up a lot. However, I have not seen this question asked before. So, given the current market, would you sell/Trade 14060M (4 liner) complete set polished by LAWW two years ago, for a d/z serial, No holes, unpolished 16600. No box, papers or service history. There are a few marks on the front lugs from strap changes but other than that everything is 100%.
Both fit great on the wrist, I honestly cannot tell a difference as i wear my watch fitted. Basically they both fit the same way on my 7.5" wrist. Also if you look at them in a watch box side by side you cannot tell a difference in how the look. odd thing to mention i know.

Thank you
John

Nope, as much as I love my 16600, believe the no-date Sub has greater value in this case being a full set even if the SD is unpolished.

Would definitely choose the SD over the no date Sub but would get some cash on the SD side.

it really depends on what you like....i prefer my 2-line 14060m due to the case thickness and wear-ability. Others may differ. if you are simply talking market value (ROI), then i'd probably go with the 14060m due to the fact that the price difference on websites like Chrono24 is not significant ($500-$1000) and the cost of a service may offset any financial gain. I guess I should ask if additional money would change hands.....

I would keep the 14060. Way more wearable.

Thank you for the quick response. I appreciate it. Seems to make sense. That and I also have a 16710 and a 114300 white...

The right answer is which watch you like better. I like the 14060M but am in the two-liner camp.

14060m vs 16600 with a catch

I effectively did this last year in two separate transactions. Sold my first BNIB, an M serial 14060m, and picked up a tritium 16600, naked.

After sending my 16600 to LAWW for service, I had spent a few dollars out of pocket net between the two deals and ended up with a watch that’s not a full set. I couldn’t be happier with the 16600 and the 14060m wasn’t getting much wrist time.

If think you’d enjoy the Sea-Dweller more, it seems like a reasonable trade.

16600 is a special watch IMHO. Great looks, engineering and under appreciated

I think a 16600 is a great watch but I would want a full set on this one.
The extras make it special.

I wouldn't. In the end they are both pretty common watches. I prefer the sub since it's more comfortable and has all the engineering I will ever need. And I like having the B+P for my watch even if it doesn't matter in day to day wear.

No I would not even though I personally like the 16600 better. However, this example is watch only, and I agree with dricig, it is the extras that make the Sea Dweller special, especially the tool, well that, and maybe having a date function without the cyclops.

I don’t care to get into the value question. For me, I use the date to the point it is a necessity and so function always makes the decision for me.

I had both for many years and traded them in for a 116520 last year. I do really miss the 14060M badly, might have to buy one again. Such a nice and clean watch.

Really comes down to what do you like. And the significant difference of date - do you want/need the date function.

I prefer Sea-Dwellers personally, and like the date function. Owned a 14060M for a few months, loved the two line nature of it and really did not mind the older bracelet, but again just opted for the SD and so the Sub had to go.

SO update... I have actually been able to source an SD complete set and it would essentially be a straight trade.
I also ended up getting a 16570, so at this time.
16710, 16570,114300,14060.. still wondering if I should make the swap..

Potentially but I was hoping to add a 214270 later in the year :).
