Got it out of mothballs

Just realized I haven't worn my Datejust II in two and a half months due to the coronavirus lock down. This is sort of my designated work/dress watch. Figured I'd stretch her legs some today just for fun even with shorts and a t-shirt. Forgot how much I love this watch, the first Rolex I ever bought.

Anyone else have a MIA dressier Rolex to pull out of the safe today? If so, let's see it!

I didn't punish any of my watches because of the virus. They each saw time, bau.

Mothballs are used to repel insects from laying their eggs in clothing. They don’t serve any use in preserving watches.

The post simply uses the colloquial idea of mothballs - something used for long term storage to convey his point.

Those foolish enough to accept his words literally do not likely belong to these forums.

Here’s an interesting anecdote about mothballs.

Love it, can’t post a pic right now but I’ve been wearing my exact same fluted blue dial DJ2 all through lockdown. It’s one of my favourite pieces for sure.

My watches are all zipped up in Oakley Watch Vaults and haven't been out in months as we have been sequestered at home for months also. I am beginning to wonder if I really need them anymore. It may be years before life is back to normal once things start to open up. It's not like we will be going out to social events or restaurants where I would wear one of my watches. What's the use in maintaining them anymore if they can't be seen or appreciated. Hmmm...

It’s not what others think, it’s just what you think and feel when you wear it.
I say break them out and start enjoying them around the house.

My DJ41 has been sitting for a while. I'm wearing my AK 116900 almost everyday since I changed the Oyster to a Everest Rubber. So comfortable and light and no worries about scratching the bracelet..

I pulled this out today for the first time in a few months. I’ve mostly been wearing my Seikos and Speedmaster.

Agree Brew.

One of my few real life friends that is into watches told me he hasn’t been wearing any of them because of the quarantine.

I don’t get it

That is an interesting article, although I think the "string" or thread idea was tongue in cheek or in colloquial terms, a joke. Along with "should I take my Rolex in the pool", "will it drown", "do you ever get dirt on it", etc… My real question. Did that guy ever get rid of the rats, or was he really trying to get rid of his wife and failed miserably? Gotta read the article for that one. Budup bup boom !

Thanks for the comments guys. I've bought and sold several watches over the years but I don't see this Datejust II ever leaving. It's such a great watch. Has a bold look but is dressy also. It was fun to wear it with casual clothes yesterday.

Looks great! This watch is such a perfect mix of dress and sport. And the size is perfect as far as I'm concerned.
