Must be diverse. 3-5 ideal.

After much consideration, I am happily down to these 5.

something for every occasion, although of late, the one watch concept seems to be winning out. Looking is nice tho, call it market research

Lately I’ve been thinking less is more.

Problem is every time I actually think about which one I’d cut loose, I can’t do it

This gets to be more challenging as we acquire those pieces that come from our refined choices.

Love the ideas in this thread

I have always though that many WIS are failed colectors because they have no cohesion in their collections but there is a thought process behind every collection it seems.

That being said, I only collect Rolex GMT masters

I’m a watch owner, not a collector. I like my Rolex OP, and I just got a Bulova Lunar Pilot and a G-Shock DW5600. I have a Seiko Samurai and a Seiko Presage. I have older watches I keep for sentimental reasons, quartz mainly. If I did collect I would want a theme, and I’m leaning towards space. So, a moonwatch in the future, and other space watches (Russia, ESA, China).

As much as I love these threads, they always give me a headache.

A well rounded collection and a collection of classic sports chronographs. I have spent enough money on watches, but if I were to add to my collection it would be the following:
Rolex 16234, Patek 5196, Patek 5726, Patek 3940.

Looking to round out my Rolex collection with a Hulk and SS Sky-Dweller (dial tbd).
After that.....rest.
After that, AP RO or PP Nautilus.

GMT's and Datejusts make up the bulk of my collection, with an Exp2 and a Platty Dial Yacht Master in there as well.
Next purchases will likely be another DJ and GMT.

The Datejust, although likely Rolex's best seller, is just so under appreciated it seems.

Maybe I'm a bit boring, but I buy what I like, and like what I buy.

At the moment I have:

DJ 41 Rhodium WG fluted on jubilee
116610 sub
Blue JLC Reverso large duoface

Want:
RG Lange 1815 small seconds (grail)

I’d be happy if this was my permanent collection, although I’ve been contemplating swapping my sub to reacquire another blue last generation seamaster and another speedy.

I've been debating this recently. I want a rounded collection small enough so that I can wear them all a reasonable amount of time. Problem is I have a few keepers I can't/won't sell so am working around those.
