GMT Master BLRO Prices

I have been wanting a BLRO since it was first released. I love the color combo and I love GMT complications.

I've been holding out on buying grey because everyone keeps screaming that prices are falling, first it was from Hong Kong, now because of Covid.

I've seen the Batman version pricing drop a little, but the Pepsi seems to be holding strong.

Should I just quit waiting and just jump on the grey bandwagon?

That’s a personal choice, it I would not pay a penny over retail for a current production mass produced watch.

I completely agree. I wouldn’t pay anything over retail for a current watch either. Sometimes you end up wanting something so badly, that when you get it, it’s not as great as you built it up to be.

Many people without great purchase history have been sitting on Pepsi lists since it was announced. Sadly if you’ve not been spending whilst on the list, the wait will likely continue indefinitely.

If it’s the only watch you want, you may have to bite the bullet and go grey, otherwise set your sights on another model

Entirely up to you. I’ve never purchased any watch over MSRP and most likely never will.

That’s a decision only you can make.

Agreed. I actually think I would enjoy it less knowing that I overpaid.

I was in a similar situation with the Batman and as my watch fund kept growing I was trying to justify to myself to go grey. Some people would think about paying over retail every time they looked at the watch, and others would just think how cool it is to be wearing the watch. Which are you??

Luckily for me my AD got one just as everybody went into lockdown and people were nervous about spending that kind of money, so I moved up the list. Glad I paid MSRP but I am sure I could have justified it to myself to pay grey prices. Nobody else other than this forum would accept your rationale!

Good luck!

It's a personal decision. Having said that, from some of the rhetoric on this very thread, one might be led to think that "MSRP = market price."

It isn't.

The grey market price is actually the street value, or "market price"- by definition. The AD"s "MSRP" price represents little more than an arbitrage opportunity, and even that has its own caveats- most people had to ring up a previous purchase or two with that AD, save for a select few fortunate people.

Now, one could argue that the market is overvaluing the BLRO. That's a discussion worth having, because it's a conversation with various nominative view points.

If you want a little practical advice, perhaps hold out a little longer; I believe ADs are getting more shipments in from Switzerland recently after the factories were shut down. That doesn't necessarily mean you'll get GMT from the AD, but if you think the market is overvaluing the watch, perhaps prices will "correct."

As others have mentioned only you can decide, but I wouldn’t worry about buying from a gray dealer if you don’t plan on selling it.

It’s your money, and time. The cost/enjoyment benefit is something to consider. As they say, life is short

Doubt prices are going to go below what they current are.

Was hoping they'd dance closer around the 15k mark before I made the plunge, it got awfully close for a moment but now they have gone up a bit.

I guess I should just go for it.

15k is still quite the premium for a 9600 dollar watch.

That is a hefty price. I am not opposed to purchasing grey if the value is there, however at current prices for BLRO, I would look at other watches.
