Which vintage Datejust is for me?
Hi friends,
I have a questions for you experts: I want to buy a vintage Rolex 36mm Datejust and I want it with the Oyster bracelet, but i want the bracelet to be as tight and high quality as possible without having to go with the modern version which has polished centrelinks; Which year of production should i be looking for? Somewhere in the early 2000s perhaps? 2000-2005? I guess what im asking is: When did Rolex produce Datejusts with oysterbracelets that are as close to the modern high quality oyster bracelet as possible, but without the polished centrelink? Thanks for any replies to this:D |

Never. You should check out for an Oyster Perpetual or Explorer I or take the bracelets of these to fit to a 116XX Datejust. Or ask a watchmaker to brush the polished center links. This can be undone later.

Does the Explorer I 36mm have a better oysterbracelet than the datejust?

16200 was the last steel DateJust with brushed center links on oyster and brushed lugs.
IMO much better than pcl and shiny lugs. |

I have a 5 digit DJ from around 2001 that came with a 78360 oyster bracelet. Has no polished center link and polished sides of the links. Standard non-locking clasp, but I believe oyster clasps are interchangeable at 16mm wide if you wanted to get one from a sub or something from the same era.
