Anybody build model rockets?
I have been building and shooting off model rockets for over 50 years. I just recently decided to merge that hobby with my watch hobby. They take quite a while to build and they are functional.

Do you have any videos of your rockets launching and flying? Would be fun to see.

I know this is a Rolex forum, but one of those styled after a Saturn V might be of interest to Speedmaster owners .............

I remember what a big deal it was when a friend launched his Saturn V Apollo Estes rocket with multiple C engines in the field near my home. Wish I had pictures of that. Circa 1971.

I built that rocket but could never figure out how to get multiple engines to fire at the same time. I still have it, some 40 years later, and its never flown.

Nice artwork on your rockets! Brings back some fuzzy 50 year old memories!! My brother and I built and flew rockets as kids. One was the Big Bertha! I painted it yellow and black. I think it flew!? We recovered most of them.

I poured gas over some of these, lit them on fire and launched them as a kid. one landed in my neighbors tree, they freaked out and called the fire department. Ended up having to go to some fire safety class at a hospital burn ward, wasn't very fun. no more rockets for me after that.

We would fill them with black powder, launch them and watch them explode. My dad was with us. And we were usung fuses we lit with matches to ignite the engine. I thought it was so cool that we found very little of the rocket after a detonation. |

I recall building and launching those as a kid. Nothing as fancy. It was a real charge for us.
