What does up to a 7 out of 10 mean? 10 being shiny?

I used to be totally anti-polish but it seems when done right it works well, makes it look basically like a new bracelet.

I believe that was caused by me holding the watch horizontal and the links not being lined up flat. When I wear it or hold it vertically they line up and I dont see that alignment you circled.

Apologies for the poor pictures. Ansel Adams I am not.

.
I understood it to be 10 was equivalent to a brand new finish.

These are both post repair. I was posting them because my previous pic made it look like two of the links didn’t line up.

In the second pic with the bracelet vertically it is still there where you can see the pin it’s like it needs to be hammered in more or something. Actually if you look closely it is two links where you can see the middle pin of the links.

I see it now. There is a bit more play in that link. Good eyes.

I had my 47-year old 2-tone oval link jubilee bracelet serviced and there is a thread on that ([url]https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=660036) Not perfect, but it was very far from perfect prior to prior to rebuild. Really depends on how much you want to invest… It is extra for new links and laser welding. I thought it was important to keep the original bracelet somewhat intact. Looking back, I might have gone for a modern bracelet instead of repairing the original. I'm more of a resto-mod person if it was a car.

Amazing post OP, I'll echo what many have already stated that these threads are indeed a favourite, tool watches used for what they were intended for and kept alive for many more years to come.

I can see a few more serrated pins.

Might need a few more taps than first thought.

No biggie but does show a lack of QC?
