Pricing a ref. 1601 "Wide Boy"

Hey all! I snagged a 1601 "Wide Boy" back in 2016 for a reasonable amount and am now looking around for another. Wherever I look, vintage 1601s seem to be on the rise with prices, especially slightly less common variants. Is the standard ask for one of the "Wide Boy" SS variants around $4k+? Kinda incredulous that they'd be running for that. Any insight appreciated for this novice.

Actually, almost any decent all-SS DJ with bracelet in good condition is pushing $4k these days. At least the asking prices.

Agree. Nobody ever pays the asking price, though.

These are super examples IMO. But yes they are now 4K with bracelet and less without and condition.

I don't think it's hype. Vintage Datejusts are awesome and deserve to be priced accordingly. Don't know why they're still the red-headed stepchild in comparison to other models like Daytonas and Subs.

It's just the market catching up with reality.

I agree that the more unusual or rarer dial variations of the Datejusts in top condition are rising in price. Deservedly so IMHO. I suppose in a rising tide (even in a pandemic)...

There is a certain charm to these wide boys. I initially didn’t warm to them, but they’ve grown on me.

Yeah, the prices. It's hard to believe that a two-tone Wide Boy with correct hands is now going for $4K USD, but that does seem to be the asking price. I can remember buying these for $1500, so it's weird for me, but currency inflates, I guess.
