Proper way to clean watch?

Hey I will be getting a Seamaster PO this fall, and I happen to be rather OCD about germs and such so i was wondering what is the best way to disinfect the watch after getting it sweaty without damaging the finish. I am concerned that soap and water will result in soap scum build up. Is there a particular soap that rinses cleanly?

what about Lysol? or rubbing alcohol? or vodka?

I realize I am probably over thinking this but i have a few months to save and its killing me!

Thanks!

Contact our moderator Larry (Tools) and see if he'll sell you one of his patented Wristwatch Wash-a-Matics. Just use your soap of choice and you're good to go.

I don't want to get technical, but according to chemistry alcohol IS a solution!

I use a very mild soap. I usually use baby shampoo to clean mine. Very mild and rinses completely clean with no buildup.

Lick it and kind of wipe it off with my shirt.

May not disinfect it, though.

I wear my modern Omega in the shower with me and brush it with a tooth brush and a spray bottle of windex as the windex has an amonia base to kill any germs and a light soap that will not cause a soap build up.
