Rolex 1675 Long E Mk. 1 Help
Hello,
I purchased this 1675 mk 1 long e off a trusted vintage watch dealer but I am no pro myself. I believe the plastic crystal was replaced because the original one was beaten up. Could you please let me know what you guys think? |

I really can't say much about the crystal from that photo. It looks generally ok.

I'd be more concerned by the 12 hour marker of the dial and the hour hand...plexi looks genuine to me...

Does something look wrong with it? or are you just referring to the condition of it?

The lume loss at 12 is def a condition issue. It’s a real nice watch man, but that damage should have given you a nice discount on the price. Is that how your deal went? You can fix it, but the dial is no longer original post restoration

Thank you Harry.
Yeah, I got the watch for relatively cheap compared to most on the market. I don't think I will restore it because I'd rather keep it original even with its current condition. |

The magnification is off / distorted on that crystal.
I hope it was a significant discount price wise. Most of the value is in the dial. |

Yeah that's what I was thinking with the crystal.
And yeah, I think I got a relatively good deal. Thank you |

The crystal appears original to me. It looks like it has been well polished in the past which is evidenced by how thin it is. When they get polished excessively, they lose much of their magnification. There is also the possibility that the crystal is aftermarket with lesser magnification than a genuine crystal, but better photos would be needed to determine this.
The lume loss at the 12 o'clock marker was probably the result of hand adjustments after the hands were installed on the watch after a service or for other reasons.

I wouldn't worry about the crystal. It's a consumable part - you can pick up a genuine one easily and cheaply if/when it needs to be replaced. I got one directly from the AD a couple of years ago. Think it was about 100 bucks.

I didn't say that there are incorrect, I said that there are not matching all together...It is imo a mixed hands set

Hands can age weird and not always consistent with lume.
Nice watch! If you got it for a good price considering the 12 o'clock lume, even better! I like watches 'with character' when the price reflects it. |

Very nice watch indeed, love the insert. If you want to check the hands for sure, shine a UV light on them and see if they react differently to each other. The dial lume and the hands, apart from the hour hand, appear to have the type of lume that will still light up under UV even after all these years.
