I'm at a point where I wanted to trim down the collection and to me the SD43 was an absolute fantastic rotation watch, but for daily wear I found it grating

When the new Submariner came out, I knew I would love it for the all the reasons discussed here on the forum. It really is a perfect daily wearer (for me). I also appreciate the super symmetrical dial. Is it a bit vanilla? Sure, but so what ... it makes me smile and its a joy to wear.

So there you have it, one lonely Submariner owner

Man, had no idea you sold your SD43.

Your sub looks amazing, and yes, in comparison, Sub would win for me (and my everyday purposes.)

And this is not to take into account any maintenance cost differences down the road. I mean for most of us, that is minimal (difference), but still there is some.

The sub IS a mini SD43, not the other way around. While I very much like the sub, the SD43 blows it away every way to Sunday. BUT and this is a big but, you have to have the wrist size to pull it off. My wrist is 7.75" and the SD43 is perfect, absolutely perfect.

The sub is a beautiful watch and if I had a wrist a bit smaller, there is no question it would be my go to watch. I can wear the Sub with no issues and love it, but the presence difference between it and the SD are night and day.

Now, the Omega. It is an absolute monster and quite frankly I find it too big to wear at times. It weighs in at 215 grams, 17.5mm tall, 48mm wide when factoring helium escape, and the bracelet could be used to chain up a pitbull.

The Omega has a beautiful open case back and, in my opinion, a micro adjustment that is at least as good as Rolex's if not better. It is a very trick system that uses a push button mechanism. Clasp is extremely functional and robust. Don't even think about this watch with a wrist less than 7.5 and 200lbs in your rear view mirror, it will look ridiculous. I am 6'3" and 230lbs and this Omega intimidates me.
Yeah that Omega is a BIG watch. Have tried it on at ADs many times, *really* like the look, but couldn't see myself living with that size of a watch.

I have two GMTs and two Subs (TT LN, Hulk). The SD43 gets the most wrist time, it feels special, definitely the best diver by Rolex in my opinion. If you have a 6.75 plus flat wrist or a 7 plus round wrist it should be fine. I would go for a MK1 dial no matter what year on the card. The only black Sub I will consider now is the discontinued 40 no date sub.

I like the SD43 a lot - have both the stainless and 18K/SS versions. I have two Submariners 11661X versions. My brother has a new Submariner, so I've tried his out. I personally don't feel enough difference between the two Submariner generations to warrant me getting a new one. If I had to choose between the Submariner and the SD43, I'd go with the SD43. In an ideal world, I'd own both.

Definitely go SD43 if it works on your wrist. It’s way more unique plus I think fully graduated bezels are very useful if you plan to use the bezel for timing.

My wrist is under 6.5 inch so it doesn’t fit great on me. But if it did I would definitely get it.

the seadweller is like a Porsche GT3RS the sub is like a regular 911. Both great cars but the GT3 is on a different level as is the SD.

Trust me, I flip flopped long and hard before I finally came to the conclusion it had to go.

I loved that watch. So awesome to look at, such a perfect creation in every way ... except comfort. I found I could wear it for about a day but when I’d get home I just couldn’t wait to get it off the wrist. For quite a while, I just thought that must be “normal” for larger divers but them I realized that shouldn’t be the case.

Anyway, it went to a good home.

I have both...I love em both...the Sub is my daily driver, but like the 43 better...can’t explain it. Been thinking about if I can only keep one...of all my watches, my 114060 is probably the one I keep...though its kinda my beater.

Love my SD43 and never really thought about buying a sub over the past few years. However, my AD showed me a 'spoken for' 126610 a few weeks ago. Oh man, that thing is SLICK. Definitely makes it a closer call in my opinion.

Totally agree and love mine.... though as has been mentioned in many threads, wrist size can definitely have a bearing. The SD43 does wear "bigger" than the five digit models and takes a little getting used to. If/when you get to that point, it really feels and looks superb!

The SD is the superior watch between the two and the red wordings is just Uber cool. Moreover some ADs are already speculating that the red wordings would be discontinued. There is no official announcement but anniversaries can’t be celebrated forever.

I have a small/medium wrist however with the balance of the SD43 it sit so well and feels very comfortable. It maybe because my wrist is a flatter rather than round wrist.
The look of the watch is fantastic IMHO and has been my daily wearer since I was lucky enough to get one from the AD.
I also think the new SD43 is much easier to obtain than the latest Submariner 2020 releases.
Is this something that the forum agrees on ?

SD43 is the diver I use most. Never liked a sub without a date. I would choose the SD.

Really do like what they did with the new Subs in terms of the case, lugs and bracelet. Essentially they took the SD43 proportions and shrunk it down slightly. To me a big improvement from the previous generation.

That said, I think the SD43 is the best diver Rolex, or anyone else is producing right now. Can’t think of a better daily wear piece.

SD43 is the absolute best. I have small wrists and would still wear that over the sub.

I owned the SD43 and 114060 at the same time, the SD43 ended up leaving. It's a great watch, and don't get me wrong it was fairly comfortable, but nothing beats the good ol' sub for comfort.

In all honesty, I'd be perfectly happy to own either. But sometimes we gotta choose.

I also preferred the gloss dial of the sub, but that wasn't the major deciding factor.
