I was shown by the boutique that it does 'pseudo-hack'(?) if you apply back-pressure once, so to sync to a reference time just set the minute hand a few minutes past, then go backward. Unlike doing this with a true non-hacking movement, the second hand will actually stay put even after letting off the back-pressure on the crown.

Mine runs backwards with a bit of back-pressure. Is that normal?

Normal. Check phone for exact time, don’t break your new watch

Have to say this lack of responsiveness is really annoying.
What’s the point of calling themselves an AD and offering an additional year warranty if they don’t even respond to customers?
Did you managed get reply from the shop team about the nick in the end?

Yes it was perfectly resolved, even though I have to say their customer service team in general doesn’t respond in a very timely manner.
They directly proposed an exchange for a new watch, which is the best resolution in my opinion. (The watch was probably from a cancelled online order.)

I just installed one of these straps with the curved blancpain spring bars. It hits the case if you bend the strap ends downward to extreme levels, but not a problem on the wrist. Figured it will do until my oem sailcloth comes in

Has anyone gotten their watch and manage to swap the nato strap out with a sailcloth strap?

I did. Got the sailcloth strap and buckle from the LV boutique. I posted pics of it a few pages back.

I’m starting to think the watch is a bit small on my wrist. May end up trading it for something bigger. I guess Blancpain’s normal size is what I should seek out.

Maybe. It’s a killer watch.

DavidSW has one in Excellent condition and minus the hang tag (not even mint; I guess the original buyer wore it a bit?) for $21,975.

Two questions:

1. Who would wear it for two weeks and then sell it?
2. Who would ding it up and lose the hang tag in two weeks?

Anyway, DavidSW’s asking price seems strikes me as a pretty good indicator of where the secondary market is for these watches. I wonder what they would ask for an unworn one.

Two weeks seem way to short can’t believe so many are already on the second hand market... whereas some people still have not got theirs yet!

Anyone else still waiting?

It’s been a great watch but I’ve hardly worn it and I find it abit small for my wrist so I think I’m gonna offload it and go for another grail of mine...

Quite a pity...

Same here. Saw it in the flesh and it was a bit small for me. Will stick to my 5015 and 5050 FFs for now and let this one go for a grail I am chasing.

From what I see, sellers are slowly reducing prices. On C24, still have the same listings, doesn’t see any ones that have sold recently

Yes - Seeing the same across all marketplaces. Also noticed a number of listings being taken down by the seller only to be listed again at the same/similar price.

Still very happy with my purchase but must admit it’s seen very little wrist time. Less the watch more my lifestyle at the moment. It’s losing out to my Apple Watch, not one of my analogs.

Well it is a bit silly to think that just because a watch sold out quickly that you can turn around and list it for $10,000 more the next day.

The majority of Hodinkee collabs actually sell in the secondary for near list price (sometimes just under, sometimes just over) in the year following the release - a lot due to the reselling. It isn't until after a year or so do the prices generally start to rise (and of course not on all models). The ceratanium IWC collab fell as low as $5500 in the year following (retail $6400+tax) and now appears to selling fairly quickly over $8k.

To me, it is still my favorite purchase in 2020, even though it is not getting much wrist time at the moment - but that's a factor of covid more than anything else - I simply don't go out right now (as someone else has said).

Long term, I think this is nothing but a winner - so long as Blacpain doesn't make it a regular model and Hodinkee doesn't do 10 more Mil-spec collabs.

Right now there are just too many for resell with a somewhat limited market. The market can't support (20) $15k Blancpains all priced at $25k at once. Once they slowly disappear, I think 20+ will be the norm.

This is just my prediction. I have a passion for collecting, buying and selling and enjoy following and predicting secondary market prices.

I didn’t see this as a real opportunity to make a buck. Believe me I wish it was because I like money. But I do firmly believe that when the day comes I want to move on I’ll get my money back. That’s a great deal to have a blancpain with Rolex like value retention.

Agree. Dropping $16k at a moments notice (like...less than 5 minutes) to purchase a Blancpain FF L.E. at retail was only easy because by now we know Hodinkee has a successful track record of 1) producing pieces that look good / make sense 2) hold their value well enough to at least break even.

I don't remember seeing a hang tag when I unboxed mine. Not normal, right?

I feel the same way, and my wrist is only a small 7 1/8". IMO a 42mm case would be perfect, as they wear smaller than, say, a Sub due to the shorter lug-to-lug. That said, this is probably the perfect size for others. So I went ahead and bought the 43mm Bathyscaphe for those days I feel the 40mm MilSpec is a little too small. Did I do it right?

Mine was deep down under the manuals, not attached to the watch itself.
