First Patek 5235/50R

Never heard of 5235/50R before yesterday, stopped by at AD and had to buy it, the dial is amazing and the movement is the only regulator in the Patek lineup. Can’t stop looking at it.

I love how the case is like a 3448. I also love the bridges on the movement. It’s a wonderful piece.

Its an exquisite piece but is not meant for everybody. It works well when:

1. Wear formally
2. Wear when one wants to feel to be different
3. For the long haul - It will be a collectors' item when is discontinued
4. One wants to collect a Patek that does not feel like just another PP.
5. One who can appreciate an intriguing movement in the form of Reg 31-260 movement

Its a very unique and nice piece. Definitely not for everyone, but I know it will be missed by many when Patek discontinues it.

Love the micro-rotor movement too!

Never heard of this model either. Looks very sharp and modern in a retro/art-deco kind of way. Thanks for putting this on my radar.

I don’t think it will become a collector’s item. Look at where 5235G prices are right now.

But, it is really under appreciated piece. I’m going to sell my Whitt gold 5235g for this one.

Great contrast on the dial. Congrats.

i'd hang on to the WG 5235. it was the 'original' PP regulator and -if ever - might be a real collectible. also i find it very beautiful. regulators were used in ships and boats and the blue dial seems to be a reference to water.

It would really need a shift in collectors' sentiment regarding Patek - it really is one of the most un-Patek watches. But then again that would mean people would stop buying vintage Calatravas and WTs, which I don't see happening.

Definitely a very, very unusual watch no matter the brand, but even more so as Patek - first regulator, unique movement, lugs from 3448 (also used only for this model), unique art deco buckle (only this model).

Congratulations on your purchase!! You chose well! This is my favourite Patek and it gets alot of wrist time. The watch is just immense on so many levels, let me briefly outline what I like about it:

1) Unique Caliber 31‑260 REG QA with the high-tech regulator, incorporating a Pulsomax® escapement and a Spiromax® balance spring in Silinvar®, which are all Advanced Research components.
2) Vibrations/hour: 23,040 How cool is that!??
3) Unique case that no other Patek has.
4) Brushed grey dial with an ENGRAVED Logo that is left unfilled. Loved how the logo just vanishes, which doesnt shout out PATEK PHILIPPE like many other Pateks with such enlarged logos these days.
5) Unique Buckle.
6) Super accurate.
7) Finishing is def a notch above many in the same price range.

Heres a photo I took with my Leica SL2-S:

Also often overlooked is how LARGE the movement is, which is great because it fills the back of the watch super nicely. You dont get that small movement large dial situation. I just cannot fault this watch at all.
