TRF Boutique Sellers

Anyone know if these sellers are open to negotiation on their watch prices?

Eyeing a particular one I see on sale and I would pull the trigger with a discount.

Depends on the piece. Make an offer. $500 discount is a no brainer.

Think most of them would hear actual offers, but won’t give you their “best offer” as for them the best offer is asking price

Make your best offer when you are ready to pay at the same time.

(pretty much) everything is negotiable. a "sale" price is nothing more than a first ask price from a seller, and i always make an opening bid that's lower. you just need to know what price you'll accept.

obviously, the higher discount the better, but i don't want to offend anyone and low ball too much.

with car deals, i'm pretty fluent and lots of info out there.

here i'm not sure where to start.

without holding my hand too much, asking for 10-15% right off the bat, too much?

appreciate the advice!

you can probably get $500ish off, 10% most likely no chance, especially if it's a hyped piece

the piece i'm looking at is definitely not a hyped one for sure from reading the forums. i like it but i seem to be in the minority. obviously, if the grey has it in stock then s/he thought it was going to be profitable.

i was going to offer 10% above msrp and move on from there.

it's hard to say without knowing what model you're referring to but generally from my experience there is definitely room for negotiation, but anything more than 5% is probably not gonna happen, and even that might be optimistic. it doesn't hurt to try, worst case they just tell you their lowest and you either go for it or pass. the prices they list give them a little wiggle room but are very precise in terms of how much they paid for it and want to profit

The entire world is negotiable. It’s you’re money man, find the clearing price even if you fail 1 or 2 times.

$500 or 3% of asking price — whichever is higher.

Definitely. They price the watches expecting forum buyers to want to negotiate.

Really comes down to that particular piece. With that said, you don't know unless you ask. Just don't wait too long as a couple of the trusted sellers tend to price more aggressively than others.

You are assuming that the dealer paid MSRP, which most of the time they have not. They will generally want to make a couple or a few grand over what they paid, so you have to work backwards.

Everything is negotiable and, as noted above, if you are ready to pay you are ready to play. Be bold.

Why not ask whatever you think is fair and are willing to jump on if offered. In general, I try to save on any purchase I can, never hurts to ask. I've purchased quite a few watches via TRF and don't recall anyone getting nasty when I offered less. It seems that the only negative experiences I've had is when I'm selling and respectfully turn down low-ball offers; about half the time it seems the reaction is to insult me or the condition of the very watch they were trying to buy, LOL.

I suspect it’ll vary a lot from watch to watch… for some 10-15% may be reasonable, for others a non starter.

I’d poke around here and on other forms to get a sense of what a particular watch is going for and decide on what to offer from there; keeping in mind that you’ll generally need to pay some premium for buying from a super established/reputable/trusted seller vs taking your chance with an unknown.
