I ran into an old friend with (essentially) the same watch!

Hello everyone. Today I serendipitously ran into an old friend of mine, haven’t seen him for years, and immediately noticed he had a Sub-Date. Of course I had my wife take a pic. Such a pleasant surprise, and it was great to be able to bond on this. Bottom pic is an extra shot of my 126610LN.

True ...
It's definitely a must have. I like it because to me it fits every dressing thus reducing it's limit.

Well a SubDate is not exactly a rare watch so it's not that surprising - still cool though!

Go out to a club in Los Angeles and you will see dozens of them.

Seems vain. I’m sure he thought it was strange after all these years, that you wanted to take pictures of your watches together for your internet friends...

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, or are you just a permanent curmudgeon? We shared in the enjoyment of our similar taste in watches. We had a great time.

My club days were over about 25 years before COVID hit.

Well said. I thinks it’s a cool story.

Some people just like to rain on anybody’s parade. People like that should stick to watching reruns on YouTube

Completely understood--couple friends groove on unexpected commonalities of taste, which is pleasant. Depending on the venue, it could have been cars or firearms or even "Ha, we're wearing the exact same shirt." Here it was Rolexes, and yeah, I would have taken a pic, too. Glad you guys had a good time.

I’d expect nothing less from a fellow Sub owner :)

I like to think we’re in a league of somewhat extraordinary gentlemen.

It was a first-time experience for me! If anyone else has had a similar experience I’d love to hear about it. For context, I’m a first-time Rolex owner, and this sort of excitement is new to me.

Honestly what strikes me about this photo is just how slimmer the new 126610 looks vs the 116610. I mean, based on the lugs I immediately thought 5 digit then once I zoomed in I saw the ceramic bezel.

The stark visual difference struck me as well, upon seeing the pic. The latest-gen Subs indeed are quite a throwback to the vintage lug shape.
