Something Gilt happened this week!

Many thanks to a good friend who allowed me to be the caretaker of a great Gilt Dial PCG Piece this week!

The faded gold insert was present on the watch when he got it 10+ years ago. The case has never been restored. The chamfers were just gently buffed with a rubber wheel, following the original contour. Other than that, the watch remains as it was when found.

I have it riding on my favorite 93150, which fits me the best.

Between this and the Mark II from a couple weeks back, and then the Red Sub from JP, I’ve been fortunate to find some wonderful pieces to keep me company into the future.

Thank You and cheers to my good friend!

Congratulations. The underline, typically seen with that specific coronet, makes this even more special.

It has a number of cousins : note the similar coronet on my underline (and Double SWISS) America's Cup Submariner :

Thank you, Haywood! I feel very fortunate that it is also an Underline. Very special watch. I read a lot of threads with contributors including you, to learn more about the dial. Many wonderful people here, sharing their knowledge and experience. You have shared many amazing examples!

Never noticed the double swiss at the bottom. Is there a reason why they put it twice there?

For what I read the hypothesis is that was ad during the passage to Tritium

The opener Gilt is very beautiful piece, congratulation.
Can you tell us the serial number/date?

Thank you! I’m thankful to have it!
Year is 1963. I’ve not opened the case back but that’s as stated from the previous owner. Serial is 876XXX.
