Why not a steel fluted bezel?

My watch OCD hates the fact that WG fluted bezel looks so different compared to the steel case on a datejust. The warmth of WG really shows especially in certain lighting and throws off the symmetry of the watch. Is it just me? Why not a steel fluted bezel?

I agree. And steel is more robust. I am surprised Rolex does not offer such a alternative. You may have inspired yet another successful incarnation of the Datejust.

Has not bothered me. That said a steel fluted bezel seems quite logical.

They use to. The most recent was the 16220 Datejust. From my understanding, when Rolex switched over to the 11 series the stainless steel bezel didn't carry over.

My Omega Globemaster has tungsten for the fluted bezel. It completely stops the OCD factor of WG on my DJ.

I would’ve liked a ss fluted bezel on my SkyD. I feel it’s Rolex’s way to up charge you.

Are you talking about engine turned? Those were pretty cool.

Would steel fluted bezels have the same shine/shimmer as a white gold bezel?

No. It's muted looking. To me, it definitely doesn't do the bezel or watch justice.

I agree. I figured that’s the main reason why fluted isn’t made in SS anymore.

They can make it shine just like WG. Look at what AP can do with a steel watch!

Because 18k sells, it’s a brilliant product strategy.

Your right, my bad. I thought that was the "poor mans" fluted bezel. But it actually was the more common version of the engine turned. I always thought the bezel with the marks at the hour markers was the engine turned.

Thanks. Always learning.

Those engine tuned bezels were really nice and kind of negated the need for a white gold bezel. I wish they would bring them back.

The WG bezel pops a bit more. It think that it’s just because of the shinier look

BC an 18k WG bezel is a nice addition to a semi dress watch such as my DJII, white stick.
I wouldnt have bought the smooth bezel. Too boring IMO

White gold fluted bezel is so so nice -- it reflects so sharply... in the plans, cars... etc... so many little dots reflecting on smooth surfaces. I had one for a few weeks but traded for other watches. But I am really looking forward to having it again on the SkyD Blue Jubilee that I'm waiting on!
