Here are photos from other threads, of exhibition only models.

i tried on a 36 Explorer at Rolex Boutique. that was a non-working display model.

I don't mind playing around with non-working display model. But still sucks as they said "since this is a new release model, the wait is long."

I didn't even bother to put my name on the list. LOL

offered to buy there and then but told again unable to sell.
So many people probably ask to buy them. The AD must roll their eyes

Indeed. Even after being told the watches are not for sale, silly people still can’t help themselves and beg to purchase one. Silly games Rolex customers play.

Some AD's clearly have working models, some don't.
Those set to 10:10 might have no movement, or simply part of the geartrain removed.

I’ve run into them at 3 different AD’s in the states. Stickered and ticking once you wind them.
If it were simply this, then you could give it a few shakes and have it working again.

Why would it be hard to weigh a movement and machine a chunk of metal to that same weight ?

these are all 100% working normal watches, just not for sale. Exhibition pieces doesn't necessarily mean no movement.
