Got passed down my uncles AP Quantieme Annuel, can someone help me.

My grandma has let me have her watch my uncle gave her in early 2000s. He is a professional sailor and was gifted it after winning a regatta while sailing with a swiss based team. I'm sure he doesn't know its worth cause he has gifted all his other watches away that he was given. My grandma had been keeping it in a plastic bag with all her other watches and thought it was worth $2000. I don't have box and its missing links and I'm unsure what to do with it. I would love to keep it because I don't think this will ever happen again where a watch of this caliber falls into my lap and the thought of being able to pass it down through my future family is awesome. If anyone could help me and further explain this watch and best course of action.

Thats a very good looking watch. I would get it serviced at AP and wear it and keep it in my family.

Agree. Suggest you contact AP service directly. Not sure where that would be for you. Dubai maybe? They will tell you how to ship, likely cost etc. You have a fine watch there.

That's a legacy watch DEFINITELY keep it and pass it on later.

I'm definitely keeping everything I'll ever buy because most will tell a story.

I agree with everyone on this. It has heritage, a story and a family connection. I would definitely keep it, add the links you need, service it and wear it.

That's an heirloom and a keeper! Send it to AP for a service and wear it.

Don't sell your grandfather's watch, especially since your grandmother gave it to you thinking it was worth 2k

Definitely keep it in the family, wear it when you can. Try to ignore the market value, it’s a pretty special watch.

The reference appears to be 25920ST, like the other Quantieme Annuel posted in the thread.

Now, assuming you will keep it.
Does the watch work, keep time well? A few seconds fast or slow per day is normal.
Does the watch have enough links to fit you?
Do you have a manual (even electronic) for the watch/caliber to help you set the calendar functions?

I agree with “Send the watch to AP for Service” in principle, but logistics of that worldwide can be difficult, plus the service cost + refinish are not negligible for everyone. If you need extra links, that adds to the cost.

If the watch works now, and AP Service is not easily available to you, just be careful to keep it away from water and humidity. Send it AP for service when it works for you.

Perhaps others with direct experience with the Quantieme Annuel can also help.

Service cost will be at least 3 - 5 k. But it comes back like brand new. This is a special watch, and would be worth the investment.

Not sure what currency you are quoting, or the basis/souce of your service cost estimate.

Published rate for Perpetual calendar (QP) service is 1800 CHF, refinishing is 350 CHF. I would not expect a 2000s era Royal Oak QA to exceed that level for regular full service.

That's 2400 USD. They will suggest replacement of bezel and other stuff - which will bring the price up to at least the 3k mark.

Add in an extract from the archives and a few extra links for the bracelet... And you will approach mid to high 3s.
