1971 1680 Sub with Singer replacement dial

Hi,

I have a genuine 1971 1680 Red Sub, with a replacement Singer dial (please see photos). It was my father's diving watch (passed away), and I'm not looking at selling.

Has anyone seen a similar dial from Singer, or could estimate the possible year of the dial?

Thanks!

Is that...blood next to the serial number and on the bezel??

Never seen a pink pearl pip either. Looks a bit goth overall...

mate, you have posted this earlier this year and many of us have given you some insight already.

Why don't you post it at Vintage Rolex Forum (google it, separate forum to this one) and seek advice there as well. There are a couple of guys there that frequent here less.

If they also come to the same conclusion as some of us in the below thread, its probably time to accept your fate.

Hi OP, dial does not seem like a genuine Rolex part to me. Certainly not original as you state and I don't think it's a service part either.

Question for the members - would RSC service this piece if received? If so and if you're not a collector, getting a service dial from RSC may be the best option so you can use the watch properly (an nice original red dial probably >$10k).

Also +1 to advice from alwayshere re: posting on VRF.

.
I think they would, condition being a dial replacement if they dont see issues with the case and movement.

1971 1680 Sub with Singer replacement dial

This post and posts like this make my head hurt. Every photo creates more questions than any definitive answers. It’s been 11 months since he first posted about this and the photos are of no better quality. If I were needing answers I would be presenting good photos that were taken at the time I was posting, I wouldn’t be using the ones from 11 month ago that look like they are all in different backgrounds. Literally no consistency to create any believability in their authenticity.

My take is he’s hoping for the one reply whose guard is down and authenticates the watch/dial somehow. Why else would someone incessantly ask the same questions 11 months apart? OP are you looking to sell this watch? Is this whole charade a plan to possibly suggest that “informed specialists on TRF said x, y or z” so I am asking x$ for this watch?

If I’m off base let me know by explaining your renewed motivation to ask identical questions almost a year apart.

That is a clearly an aftermarket Dial. Sorry.
Rolex never created such a monstrosity as a service replacement.
Send to an actual Rolex service center (not some watch maker working in the back of a dealer) and have them replace it with a correct service dial, and throw that thing in the garbage.
Also have them throw those Cheap aftermarket hands in the trash as well and replace with service Rolex replacements.

I’ll say one thing, that red pip is certainly memorable. I recalled the old post instantly.
