As for your fixation on older men in tight pants, that's probably something better kept private. It's borderline creepy.

Borderline ?

are they really loved and hyped? I didn't realize and seem pretty easy to acquire at MSRP.

I have a few. Don't wear them too often. They're ok, good for physical wear or when you want to keep it low key. Of course doesn't compare to Rolex but obviously not meant to either.

Agreed but when these ads were printed a sub date wasn't a $9k watch at MSRP and nearly double on the secondary.

Yea, but also almost 50mm diameter. My point being that the vast majority of there offering are enormous and for no apparent reason.

A WIS is a WIS, there is no minimum amount of money required to spend on a watch to have a passion for this industry. You find G-shocks ugly? I find some Rolexes ugly, but I would never say that to someone wearing one. They have different tastes, so what? Someone that values and appreciates a timepiece doesn’t have to justify or explain their reasons.

+ Chronograph, + Alarm, + GMT

As for the Rolex advertisement- that’s all old, way before the G-Shock was released in the mid 80s. When Rolex was one of the toughest watches.

Have G-shock in the event I travel places I do not wish to take $$ watches.

Industrial design icon with a connection to the military. I think they are cool. Not everything is about the price tag. Swiss Army knives, Bic lighters, Lamy pens, Converse chucks… all affordable and high value for what they are.
In fact, I would add Swatch to that list. I have a few of those, both mechanical and quarz. And wear them. Just like my vintage Russian Vostok or Apple Watch.

As for the Rolex = tough advertisement - this is an actual Rolex advert from a day ago in a German news magazine.

Talks about how the Viennese Philharmonics refine their craft over and over and create their unique sound. Rolex is an official sponsor.

Couldn’t agree more with TheVTCGuy and you. Watch collectors who talk down on others collection/collecting - are not real WIS. Real WIS are respectful and nice.

"Help me understand" is not a true request for guidance, the OP isn't going to like them or agree no matter the argument. TRF was originally meant for those who enjoy watches, all watches, and everything about the art of time keeping; I'd love to see those days again. It is a shame that a once great place for daily visits has been taken over with nonsense threads and argumentative drivel.

As far as G-Shock, they are great watches and have their place.

Rolex wasn't loved/hyped 5 years ago when they were easy to buy off the shelf at MSRP, often below?

Is this thread in response to the new video posted by Watchfinder & Co?

I don't understand how this thread is even allowed. It's trolling and a bit nasty. You don't like G Shocks then maybe don't buy one. Nothing to help you 'understand'.
