14060 at tz sales section... caveat emptor!

there's a ND sub going for a low price at TZ last week (and now it's been further reduced), and i contacted the poster to get at least one picture of the watch on top of a piece of paper with his email address.

i got a reply with some high-rez shots, but without without the requested emails/nickname, etc. the pictures were taken last week, he said.

the watch is now kept in the safe, he said.

he doesn't know how to use photoshop (??), he said.

he's not a watchmaker so no movement shots, he said (this i expected).

BUT... i if wanted, he could send more pictures. there were no shots of model/serial number. he did not mention the date or series of the watch either.

a few more to-and-fros and he said he doesn't feel comfortable taking pictures in between the lugs.

he still has not told me what series the watch dates to, and i also told him to use paper/whatever to cover up the last few serial numbers.

finally, he claims he doesn't want to shoot in between the lugs because people will photoshop it and use it for fraudulent purposes.

he proceeds to send me another bunch of high-rez pictures of a beat up 14060, and all except 1, was of the same watch.

the one that is not of the same watch (i'm identifying them using scratch marks) is that of an exposed lug with its serial number photoshopped to remove the last few digits.

although that picture could have been taken when the watch was new, and edited by someone else... i just couldn't do it, despite being on the market for a someone's beatup ND sub.

so i bailed.

this post in no way, implies the seller is a fraud, but to me it didn't feel right.

Please post a link to the listing, or at least some pics. The name of the seller would be nice as well.

sorry for the late reply. i've been elsewhere trying to find a suitable nd sub. : )

http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...6996&rid=45046

the pics are huge, but i'll post 2... the pic that shows a beat up 14060 matches the rest of the pictures he's sent me.

the pic showing the serial is a different watch from the rest - note the scratch near the 30m marker on the bezel insert.

(the picture is huge, so please copy and paste)

for all i know, he could be legit, and i will indeed be happy for his buyer if that's the case. but i'm not gonna take the risk...!

From the two pictures is difficult to tell if they are two diff watches.

The seller has no feedback. But if he is willing to meet personally, and he is local to you, you can get this verified at an AD.

Ask for other pictures, or post more for us to review.

L-series denotes a 1989-90 production year.
