Trade 116500 for 116519 + cash?

Hey all,

I’ve receiving a new 116500. I’m picking up from my AD when I get back from my work trip, but I can’t help but feel drawn to the WG 116519 on Oysterflex.

Anyone have both, or decide between steel and gold Daytona’s?

I have the 519. Love it. Tried the black 500, it’s really nice but the dial of the 519 is just amazing. Pics cant portray how nice it is in the flesh.

Your in a good position to be able to acquire your 116500 from an AD I assume at MSRP. Could you ask them for a WG as your next purchase? That way you have some time to enjoy the 116500 and when a WG lands you could always sell the 116500 at market price and buy the WG at retail with profit going your way instead of adding cash!
Your in a great position and both awesome pieces & it’s personal taste. I have a SS and PM OF and it’s a tough choice but the OF is stunning...Good luck in your decision

How much cash do you have to add?

I cannot believe you are buying one of the hottest watches in the world and even before purchasing are considering trading it. What has this hobby come to?

Lol. It’s come to me asking a question about a hobby I’m into.

And it’s just that - a question.

Thanks for your insight. I was pretty keen on the steel Daytona but after trying on OF Daytona’s, just had to ask owners that have handled both.

well said - the other poster should shut up instead of trying to dictate what is his/her view

at times on this forum there are a few posters who try and intimidate others because they have different views

its your watch - keep/flip - nothing to do with anybody else

hope you get a result that suits you

Agreed. Never understood how consumerism of this type could be seen as a ‘hobby.’

I know of a woman that shops at Hermès as much as possible (weekly) in order to add to her Birkin collection. Never once has she referred to her actions as a ‘hobby.’

I'm shocked that anyone can get a Rolex in Vancouver.

If you are into learning about the history, how mechanical movements work, etc it can very much be considered a hobby. Sounds like that is not your motivation. Good luck on your business venture.

That’s a good strategy. I have a 116500 and would personally not trade for a 116519LN because the metal bracelet is more versatile than rubber. The 116519LN silver panda dial is stunning though.

I’d personally stick with what you’ve got.

Part of the joy of owning a Rolex (to me) is the bracelet. I can’t get on board with the oysterflex, even tho I know it’s hugely popular with many here. YMMV

Awesome point! I’m leaning towards keeping and figuring out a way to get the OF WG Daytona some other way down the road.

I’d like to take my time. I recognize I’m fortunate to be in this position.

I’m used to people taking things so seriously here. Part of the fun for me. They’re just watches. I enjoy wearing them, I enjoy trading them, and I enjoy discussing them.

As for my question, it probably could have been worded better. I like seeing perspectives on the particulars!

Been on the “list” for two years, one month into Covid. I agreed to an opportunity at a time the AD was relatively desperate to make sales.

I wouldn't even think about it, unless the cash is coming your way from the 519.

And even then, it would depend on how much.

If your AD will sell you the 500 they will likely be able to get you the 519. Mine has a 2 watch limit and I'm done with subs and trying to choose my last Daytona carefully. That WG 519 with steel is tops.

You would be insane to part ways with a steel Daytona. Absolutely insane.
