Share you worst Boutique experience?

I thought I would share my worst Boutique experience.

Bear in my I am no tire kicker, I went in to buy a new strap for my 1661. I also asked to buy the spring bars as I can see myself loosing on at some point during a strap change.

Firstly the assistant said 1661 did not use spring bars

Secondly said they do not supply them

Thirdly said I should try ebay

In fairness, I have had other experiences at the same AD that were far better, inc some freebies just for visiting and people who new in and out the watches.

What I have had more often that not is the fibs, the "can not believe we have one of these in stock" and "these are hard to get", despite them showing as in stock on the web site for delivery in a few days from Panerai and an array of AD's

Can’t say I’ve ever had a bad experience at my Panerai AD or my Rolex AD for that matter.

Haven’t had one. And why share your worst experience? I believe there’s enough negativity to go around these days. Deal with it and share your positive experiences.

@the og beef,

Because people go in and often believe the things they are told, which are sometimes not true. I post so people have an accurate perception of reality and healthy skepticism.

Agree, although the Miami Rolex AD was a bit odd. Other than that I've never had a bad experience at a Rolex or Panerai AD.

I was in Santa Monica a few months ago and saw the display cases full. I checked to see if I had all my cc's only to find out they were display models. The staff there was amazing. We had a great time and they put me on their list.

Ah, too true. I was looking at this strictly from a Panerai experience, but the Rolex boutique in Miami Design District was truly off-putting.

Always been pleasant for me. And I always get to try on a cool piece or two.

Pushy sales person at the Panerai AD.

Told them I was getting a feel for the models. They kept asking if I would be leaving with one today. I told them repeatedly no, I was not set on a particular model, was in the early stages of looking. Kept pushing. This was a year ago.

Ended up going through Chrono24 for first Panerai a couple of weeks ago.

Not so much a bad experience but went to a boutique to see if I could buy the plastic tool used to change straps(one of my points broke). The guy said he didn't have any after he just changed my strap I bought. Went to another boutique in the same city and she couldn't give me one fast enough. Also ended up with a hat. From here on out I use them exclusively, from buying buckles to straps. When I buy another pam I will have no problem buying from them rather then the AD.

Am planning on popping down to an AD or Boutique when i'm in the city next month
Just planning to kick a few tires and try on some 45mm-47mm pieces, if possible

Will be interested to see how the interaction goes
I'm not normally a fan of "window shopping" as i feel like i'm wasting a SAs time, but i'm not sure i'm comfortable spending a year saving up for a piece only to find it looks like a wall clock on my wrist the day i go to buy it

I’ve been to 5 boutiques and have made purchases at 2. Whether i was making a purchase or just tire kicking and drinking their booze all have been great experiences.

Last time I was in there. I was totally ignored. Not even a good morning. Of course I was dressed in my beat up leather jacket and sweat pants, but nothing.

Sales girl followed me around. Guess she was waiting for me to do a smash and grab, so she could tackle me.

Went over to the VC store and manager pulled out a $80k tourbillon and asst. manager at Cartier stored took out a fully encrusted diamond dialed watch at the same value of the VC and handed it to me.

Never went back to the Rolex store and wouldn't spend a penny there. Never judge a book by it's cover. There are other Rolex stores I can buy from if I want one.

Been almost 3 years since I was in the mall. Should take a run over

I bought my first panerai from local AD here, then months later I went back looking for OEM strap. After waiting for an hour, I left the shop and they apologise because they were "busy" and promise to give me a call back later that day. I never get the call.

After a week, I gave the shop a call and explained no one callback for my panerai straps enquiry. No apology given, and they insist all the reps were busy. It seems selling straps and accesories considered to be insignificant.
