The interview continues on the topic of stainless steel “I don’t want us to have more than a third steel watches. The steel Nautilus makes up a big part of that quota, and I don’t like that,” adding to the discussion that if Patek is “very interested in new materials when it comes to making our movements smaller, thinner or more accurate” the same doesn’t apply to the case of the watches: “We had to work very hard to get into the gold and platinum league, and that’s where we should stay” and saying that his father told him years ago to “Leave these materials (carbon and titanium) to Hublot and the others, they do a good job.” |

Mr Stern clearly said they sold make no titanium pieces to “leave that to Hublot and others”

Yes, they've also used Steel for high-complication one-offs for charity, too. This is true.
Mr. Stern is entitled to say whatever he likes, he owns and runs the show. But, there's clearly a double standard here, talking down to Titanium, while using it for some of their absolute rarest pieces over the past decade. Same goes for Steel. |

Doesn't have to be pretty, won't set the tone of the collection, does absolutely nothing to dilute the PM market. |

Yes, I find myself agreeing with you a lot recently. I think the white date window gives a more balanced look and I can see the date better, not that I often set it. I would not like the big gap between 2 and 4 if it was blue, but that’s just me, oh and you.

No, it looks weird now like a 5167a with 5711 bracelet but it doesn’t work for me. I think a blue dial and change the hands and your done.

It looks like a twenty-4.
Why not a man collection for the twenty-4 family? |

No... This will never happen... At least not with the Nautilus because it completely changes Genta design language. This photoshop makes it look nothing like the Nautilus.

TS quote this during the interview...... "For one thing, I don't want a single model to suddenly make up 50% or more of our collection and dominate Patek's image. It has happened to us in the past that we produced too many examples of one model, and I didn't want that to happen again. Secondly, we have an obligation to our customers: It's not enough to make the most beautiful watches in the world. I also have to make sure that they retain their value, and rarity is one of the keys to that. For the customers who invest in Patek, that's important. In addition, discontinuing a model allows us to make something new again. We can't just rest, we have to evolve and keep impressing people. We don't talk about unit numbers of individual models, but I don't want us to have more than a third steel watches. The steel Nautilus makes up a big part of that quota, and I don't like that. Take the Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet. That's a great watch, but at a certain point it becomes dangerous when one model becomes too dominant. People's taste can suddenly change, and then you have no alternatives to offer. I want to avoid that at all costs with Patek."

I'm going with "Abyssal" and making it the first 200m depth rating for a PP, perhaps? |

The Aquilus will sell out if ever made, but it does look too much like inbreeding for me.

The slate dial w/stick markers from the 3800p is due for a comeback. Or, instead name it "Admiral" and go with the Roman dial from the 3800a. |
