My G-Shocks are my beaters, and my most expensive G-Shock is my $330 Rangeman.

For me, a beater is a watch I wear when I’m backpacking in the mountains, rock climbing, kayaking, etc. I know my Swiss mechanical watches can handle those activities, but they’re steel and start to feel heavy and annoying when I’m hot, sweaty and dirty. G-Shocks are plastic and lightweight, much more comfortable for me in those scenarios.

G shocks were invented by the watch gods to serve the beater function in my opinion. No need to be smashing up a fine swiss timepiece just for the sake of it.

I've seen watches from the 70's in better condition.

No Date sub unless things get real sketchy and then it may end up on the bench or the Apple Watch may get deployed if tunes are needed and theres metal involved that could be a sub killer. I wear them and in no way baby them but do not go out of my way to purposefully put them in harms way.

My AD can’t believe some of the dings and dents that end up in some of my watches, maybe why he gets me some clutch “impossible” to get pieces?

Anxiously awaiting a WG Daytona that I “ordered” two years ago 😳

I wore my Batman for about 4 years, I was religious about never taking it off, it never came off when i was camping, gardening or even chopping down trees and bucking the lumber.

Dont have need for beater as such but did pick up SKX009 for rare occasions that changes and also for visits into some parts of London and always take it on holiday leave the others in the safe why risk it?

What is the most expensive beater watch you own?

Been wearing this one a lot lately as my daily.

If I need a true “beater,” I slip on my GShock, which actually is decently expensive since it’s a limited edition piece from The Dial Artist.
