Photographic technique advice

I've been trying to do a "drive by shooting" shot to achieve a " visual tunneling effect". See test shot here - 13 seconds, F/5.6, on a 28mm prime lens, ISO200, Nikon D90:

Problem is I want the outside light streaks to be more focused and straighter. I was driving at like 80kmph on the freeway when I took this shot (using remote control). I also want the inside of the car to be focused without blur, as well as, if possible a clear focus on the car in front.

Any ideas how I can achieve it? Should I change th lens to like 12mm to get inherent deep DOF?

I have try to shot around 4 sec and make sure the camera not get a chance to shake.

Good luck.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional
photographer, buy a flute and you own a flute.

Vibration reduction and shoot with the mirror up and it may get the affect that you want.

The squiggly lines outside are that way because of the vibration of the moving car. Not much you can do about that, VR lenses might help a bit, but I don't think they will make the lines straight. IMO it's kind of nice the way it is.

Dee said it looks great I reckon you need to find a smoother road , vibration is always going to be the issue.

Thanks guys. I reshooted this evening using 5s exposure, F/16, 14mm lens, ISO200. The streaks look much more finer this time.

Yes, I need to wash the car

Surprised no one said to go faster. The faster you drive, the shorter you can make the shutter while still getting the streaks.

Are those two little space invaders at the very top of the photo.

I was already at 100kmph which is the speed limit. Any higher will attract the cops and who knows what they will say, seeing a camera rig in the middle of the car

Which mode were you shooting in?

I would make sure that the speed was about twice the amount of the aperture. Bump the ISO up and still do the mirror lock-up.

Too bad there are free tunnels around here or I would test it out myself.

It's on full manual. I underexposed by 1.7 f/stops, I didn't want the dirty windows to show up
