Is there any technical difference between the Daytona M series and the V series?
I posted this message in the WatchTech forum then realized that there are a lot of folks that can probably answer my question... might not be very 'techie'.
I'm about t make the big transition to a Daytona. I have seen some great buys on this forum and will probably go ahead and buy fromn one of our trustworthy members. Question is is there any differences between a M serial and a V serial ? I assume they both have the 'rolex, rolex, rolex on inner bezel/case. but I found a post from one of the members saying : ''It is a "V" Serial which is the newest production This one comes with the new braclet no# 78590'' Does the M serial have a different bracelet? I thought they both would have the Oysterclap with easylink... I'm looking at the 116520 ( steel ) in black dial Any help to clarify this is appreciated. Cheers, JULIO |

They have updated the clasp on it, they've changed it to one more similar to the GMT IIc. But either clasp is pretty decent, I wouldn't worry about it too much, if I'm honest.

I have a brand new "M" serial black dialed daytona and it has the new style clasp on it. So, in my case, there's no difference. however, I did puchase a "V" serial black dial from an AD and it had the old style clasp! no kidding! I sent it back and they sent me an M serial with the new one, weird huh,

Hopefully this helps..
95% of M Series has the old buckle . If you buy a M Series and it has the new buckle it is probably a M8 or M9 serial (8 or 9 Being the first number after the serial prefix) About 2% of V Series has the old buckle. V0 you may find the odd old buckle but once it is a V1 and up it has the new buckle.. The easiest thing to so is just ask the seller what is the braclet number and there will be no surprises 78490- Old Buckle 78590- New Buckle Best |

No mechanical difference for the movement.
