1982 DJ 16014 dial question...

Hi all,

First time poster, long time lurker/reader, so please go easy on me. I found this 1982 Datejust 16014 at a local pawn broker. They claim it is authentic with an aftermarket bracelet on it. My question concerns the dial, as I haven't found one exactly like it. It seems like the little tritium dots are missing, and that the hands extend beyond the stick markers. Is this an aftermarket dial or service dial or ??

I apologize in advance for the small pictures, it was tricky to resize them smaller to fit the file size restrictions.

Thanks!

Those hands do look a bit thick and long for that dial, but who knows all the combinations that exist in DJs.

No expert, but HR hand with lume and second hand without look odd - dial might be ok but OYSTER PERPETUAL looks unusual.

Thank you for the replies. There is lume on both hands, the reflection makes it hard to see. I have a few other pictures of the watch on wrist and there is lume on the hand set.

I think the dial looks nice but I don't think it's correct. For one thing, I think the crown is too low in the open minute track. Other examples with the open top minute track has the crown logo set high enough where the top crown point is almost part of the minute track hash marks, this one is too low for that, which makes me think there might have been a lume dot there at one time.

Unless it’s a fantastic price, walk away - there’s plenty of datejusts around. One needs to be knowledgeable and comfortable buying vintage.

Thanks, that's what I'm leaning towards.
