FP Journe appointment tomorrow

Hey guys,

I have an appointment with FPJ tomorrow to discuss my interest in a Chronometre Souverain.
Funny enough I was offered one a couple of years ago but passed as I didn't fall in love with the Havana dial as I thought I would. I figured no point buying it if it's just going to sit in a safe, it's better that it goes to someone who will wear it and develop memories with it.
Fast forward two years and I remain obsessed with the brand and extremely eager to begin collecting. Unfortunately, the demand for Journe has gone through the roof so no additional offers have come my way.
I do have an appointment tomorrow with them as my wedding is approaching and I've always dreamed of wearing a Journe on my wedding day. Really praying they can make it happen for me.

Any tips or advice for me? Any new developments in the Journe world in the past 2 years that I may have missed that I should now take in to consideration?

Or just any words of motivation and hope, I could use them lol.

Thanks all,
Cheers

I have never bought from an AP Boutique before hence can't offer any help.

Nonetheless, would like to wish you success in your pursue of CS and hope you can wear it to your wedding. Maybe you can share your wedding date with them too?

I don’t know any secrets to getting allocations unfortunately other than don’t be a thirsty prick and show an interest in the brand. Good luck!

It seems to be beneficial to socialize at the boutique events in the US anyways. I have not done any of that mainly because I live far away and the NYC boutique hasn’t re-opened yet to my knowledge.

I just received my PT Havana Lune that I asked for in November of 2020. It’s my second allocation and I fly to see my NYC boutique rep from Houston 2-3 times to we year. If your wedding is this year I would say it is very unlikely you would get an allocation before your wedding unless you personally know Pierre or Laurent.

The best way to get a Journe allocation is to show consistent interest in the brand. I wish you the best of luck with your meeting and congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

don't buy what you don't like. We are too old for these self imposed pressure for materialistic stuff. Well that's what I told myself with FP Journe. I did pass on two offers from them before as well and having watches in the safe not worn is a waste of the watch, so kudos to you.

As you know, about a couple of years ago, FPJ decided that watches are exclusively sold through their boutiques. Was there an AD in the UK before? But with only 900 pieces per year, they could keep a small global footprint of boutiques/distribution points.

I think there are still ADs in Canada and Europe. And then we have Hourglass in Singapore. But all US ADs are gone and I can see even the remaining ADs will be getting very small allocations since even the boutiques are short.

whats the feedback from your visit? From what I hear you make a wishlist of what you want and and they tell you to be very very patient. Helps to be very active in their community and participate in their events

Congratulations!! It is good to see that their waiting list system actually works. I showed my interest back in January 2022 so hopefully, I will get my first next year!

That's good to know. It is good to meet them in person than emails.

It's only Pragnells here in the UK. Stores in Stratford upon Avon and London.

Being the only AD, they can leverage this to their advantage and from what I've read about them from the forum, unless you are a heavy spender, you don't even get a look in.

Hopefully he didn't pull a Mr. Wonderful and talk about the watches as investments and when FPJ dies, the value will sky rocket.

It just occurred to me that he was “promoting” FPJ. Oh no! Let’s hope it is not another FTX.

No need to worry. FPJ has real products and isn’t violating a TOS agreement

It went quite well. They were receptive to my requests. Good conversations, very friendly and kind. They said they'll try. All I can do now is wait and hope they can make my dreams come true.

Did they say that they will invite you to their monthly gathering?

Just to clarify: this was an AD, not a boutique.

I think everyone were thinking of a boutique visit

Now I noticed that you are in Toronto, I guess it makes sense. Did the AD tell you when do they get allocation from the manufacture? Before I start my journey with the boutique, the AD I dealt with gets its allocation in around March. And depending on how many allocations for the reference you are interested in and if and how many people are “in-line”, he was able to let me know if the watch I want is doable in the coming months. For FPJ, he was not able to project too long term since the allocations are not consistent anymore.

I sketched out the math before when I went to visit the FP Journe boutique in NYC to put my name down for a CS, but roughly

- FPJ makes 900 watches a year and has 10 boutiques, so if all go to the boutiques (which it doesn't) that would be roughly 90 watches per year per boutique.

- FPJ has roughly 12 different watch "lines" if you're excluding special additions, so maybe each boutique gets 6-8 different watches per broad category (big assumption is that everything is produced in equal numbers, which it almost certainly isn't)

- so if you have 40 people (a low estimate) who are earnestly in line for a CS, then you're looking at roughly 5 years of waiting time.

All of that is assuming that everything goes to a boutique, which it doesn't, but I do imagine that the boutiques get priority world wide. So you'd need to trend those numbers down for ADs, especially if its something at the high end of the range

While true it all comes down to relationships. I know people who have received multiple desirable pieces in 12 months and others like me wait 2 years for anything and pray haha
