Real or fake? (my hunch is fake)
My mom has been holding onto this watch for years. It was left behind by a gentleman she had been seeing for some time back in the day, and he was just the type who would wear a knockoff!
I know absolutely nothing about watches, and would like to spare myself the embarrassment of getting laughed out of a shop for asking about what I assume is such an obvious fake. Thanks! |

It’s very fake. DDs are ALL-gold.

Question- how much does it weigh? I've seen these fake in person and they are very light- dead giveaway.

I'll put it on the scale later today, but it seems fairly light in the hand. Mind you, I've never held a real Rolex or any other high quality watch, so I have no experience with the look and feel of the real thing!

The fact that there's never been a two-tone Day-Date makes weighing it kinda pointless.

You don't need a scale for this one, there is absolutely no question about it.

I wasn't doubting that it was a fake- that's easy enough to see- but for the inexperienced (as the OP admitted) weight IS a dead giveaway. Most of these really poor fakes weigh less than half what they should especially if they're supposed to be all gold- which obviously this one isn't- there's a lot of "tells" on this one.

agree - weighing it and comparing the weight to a genuine day-date is pointless....like comparing the toe counts of an otter v. seal (pointless)
