Brand new Rolex has dial issue

Hello

Just wondering if this is at all normal

I received my submariner from AD and had it under a loupe out of curiousity

There is a micro hair on one of the hands, and if you look closely there are indentations in the word ROLEX.

This is only visible with a loupe however

I haven't looked at mine under any sort of magnification and don't care about imperfections at that level. It's a mass produced watch.

My JC Deepsea has a small piece of dust or something under the crystal near the 7 o clock marker; I will be sending it to RSC to have it addressed but have been waiting because of the turn around time. Even though Rolex watches are very well made, they are mass produced so sometimes these things happen. If you take it to RSC (or send it there) they should address it for you but it’ll likely take a few months.

Pics if you can and congrats on the watch!

A hair would annoy me - I’ve got the tiniest little speck of white dust on my black dial. Can’t be seen c.95% of the time but I hate it when it catches the light in a certain way.

I would take it to the AD and have them sort it out with Rolex. Mass produced or not this is unacceptable IMO at the price point. It does happen but should be corrected. At least with respect to the hair. Would need to see the script “indentations” to comment.

Once you see something, you can't ever unsee or "unknow" it, so I'd have to take it back. As stated above, yes they're mass produced, but they're also priced at a significant premium, so QC should follow that.

Afraid today loupes and the rest of today's Rolex can and often will be a Rolex watch owner worst enemy.

OP, at least you have the confirmation that a watchmaker spent some time on your warch, even if just 3 hours to assemble it.

On a serious note, take ot to the RSC and have it taken care of.

I couldn’t ignore it! I check all my dials with a loupe.

If it is only visible with a loupe i would let it go. RSC opening up a watch introduces new opportunities for dust or hairline scratches. Like others said, it is mass produced by machines. It can have some little imperfections. I once made the same mistake of thinking Rolex made perfect finished watches, i was wrong.

“Don’t let perfect stand in the way of good enough”.

Enjoy your watch!

Leave it!

Having a small dial pube from an actual Swiss watchmaker is akin to having your AMG motor individually signed by the assembler.

A human hair?

Oh hell no.

Now, if it is something inorganic, that's different.

That’s what happens when you use a loupe. Bet all of mine have one issue or another but I will never care to know.
Rolex is not known for perfection and you are not paying Lange prices so perfection should not be an issue when not visible to the naked eye.

It might have passed Rolex QA with whatever standard they use these days, however talk with your AD to see what can be done if it bothers you that much. The watchmaker might open up your watch at the AD rather than sending it to a service center, so a risk of further problems potentially. Tough call though. Good luck.

Had a hair on one of mine. I blew on it and it was gone. I have never looked at any watch under a loup.
