Can someone tell me about this watch? It’s mechanical. My friend got it.

You have to open the back and get a close up of the movement. Lots of fakes and not much difference between the real and the fake.

My watchmaker was just telling me today about fake Cartiers. Even in quartz models, the fakes have faux screws and gears. Crazy stuff.

You'd need to post better pix than that to even remotely be able to see if it has the basics to be a "High quality fake" vs. something easily determined to be a fake. If your friend got it for $5, I'd suspect it's a fake. With the internet, all anyone has to do before putting a price on something is a quick search, and they would see a real one is worth a lot more than $5. As the old saying goes if something sounds too good to be true, it usual is.

If that were real, it could be from any year from 1996 until about 2021 or so.
