5212 for a wedding?
Hey all
I absolutely love my 5212, especially for business settings (I write a newsletter so the weekly calendar function comes in handy). As I have a wedding that's coming up I'm looking for that perfect watch to commemorate this special occasion and I wanted to get an Aquanaut, but that's still dependent on my AD. Now my question: Is the 5212 too business-y for a wedding watch or could it work? |

At least here in the States, weddings have become much less formal over the years.
Are you wearing a tuxedo? Is this a true black tie event? What color is the strap on the 5212? If its black, then I think it would be fine with a dark suit, but perhaps not with a tux in a true black tie event. If you're wearing a regular suit, gray, blue, etc. (not black), then a brown strap should be fine. Frankly, I don't think other attendees will likely care except in the most formal of environments. |

Wear what you like, and the 5212 can be dressed up or made casual (strap color matters here a great deal). What will you and the other guests be wearing - is this a formal event?
Personally, I only wear my Aquanaut in casual settings (eg. t-shirt and jeans). For a wedding, I’m more than likely wearing a Calatrava, possibly a Nautilus or Royal Oak if I am a guest and the event is business casual attire. |

Any watch will be fine. No will notice your watch unless it is 47 mm or bigger.

My friend’s partner wore a 5167 for their wedding. While it doesn’t look too bad, it does look out of place. The 5212 is a much better wedding watch.

Kind of a casual watch but I wouldn’t be too worried about your watch and focused on enjoying the wedding.

5212 would be just fine for any setting, formal or casual. The brown calfskin strap is very versatile and the watch itself can change looks by the type of strap you have on it.

Then I think you're good to go with the 5212. Don't over think it...wear the 5212 and enjoy the wedding!

5212 is suitable in any setting IMO, however if you are wearing it every day for work then id say that the joy of watch collecting is having a special piece for a special occasion.
The 5212 remains the favorite in my collection and wear it more than any other. I do have a couple of grand complications that are earmarked for a special occasion (sons wedding…my next wedding…or christening of my first grand child). I think those special pieces reserved for those special occasions make owning a particular watch more exciting. The anticipation of wearing it for the occasion is like no other. Each to their own of course, but watches contain memories over both yours and their life time. Enjoy the wedding. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
