126505, The 10th Daytona Joins the Family

Last week, as I basked in the familiar warmth of my parents' home in LA, nostalgia wasn't the only thing I indulged in. A visit to my trusted AD turned to be better than I expected. As I was finalizing a Tudor purchase for my cousin's 18th birthday, a twist of fate had the store manager beckon me aside with an offer too tempting to resist.

So, ladies and gentlemen, I present you with the rose gold Rolex Daytona, reference 126505, fresh from its 2023 catalog. My first Rolex Daytona that I purchased was the 116505, and now, years later, my collection's 10th Daytona is a wonder is its refined kin, the 126505. Life of collecting made full circle.

My 116505 was also purchased in LA, I remember it like it was yesterday, we just sold our first big construction project that we were working on for 2 years and celebrated that by buying Rolex Daytonas with my business partners. We even got a 15% discount on them from AD. A short trip to a safety deposit box presented me with a rare opportunity: to put two horological siblings side by side. Despite their striking resemblances, they harbor many differences as well. Perhaps the keen-eyed among you can discern the subtleties in the snapshots I've captured.

I'm taking both these gorgeous watches back with me to Miami and I'm planning to make a small few minute video to show similarities and differences.

Getting my hands on this tenth Daytona is a big deal for me—it's been quite the ride getting here, and any Rolex fan knows how tough it can be to acquire Daytona from the AD, especially the stainless steel ones.

Keep an eye out for the video—I'll post it in the next few weeks here if anyone would be interested.

For now, enjoy these pictures.

What year is the 116505? The rose looks nearly yellow!

both lovely. Although I think I prefer the sub-dials on the 116505 much more. It's funny how the end links on the outgoing model don't actually fit!

Oh yes, the new reference looks more rose gold than the old reference, would be curious to compare it to my YG Daytona

Not very clear in the pics, but 11 series PM daytonas have end links that are slighltly larger than the curve of the lugs. On the 12 they've corrected that.
