5167 or 5905/1A
Despite the huge complication advantage for the 5905 and given that the 5167 will be from grey market and 5905 from grey
Both at almost same price point . which one will you choose and why ? thanks |

to think that a Patek Philippe watch with annual calender, chronoggraph and day/night indicator in precious metal is the same "value" as a time only rubber/steel watch is crazy. I would buy the 5905 from the AD. Yes it is more expensive than grey, however you will get an aquanaut later on from it and then your value proposition is way higher.

I think the question should be rather whether it's going to be a 5168 or 5905.
If the big 5905 is a good fit for you a 5167 will be wearing too small. |

For me personally the massive 5905 is too large and too thick. For that reason alone, my answer would have to be 5167 between the two.
On top I am not a fan of the 5960/5905 style AC dial with lots of apertures. I also prefer simple watches with one complication over lots of complications in one watch. For example, I'd prefer the combination of 3940 PC + 5170 Chrono over a PCC with both complications. When it comes to automatic Patek chronos the one I have been warming up to lately is the 5975. I'd also pick up a 5968 if I got the call - large but not as massive as 5905. |

I feel the 5905 is too big for me. If you have the wrist to rock it, definitely the 5905

5167, for all the same reasons ts3 has stated. If you have to have a Patek chronograph the 5968 is perfect, the best Patek makes, because it's so basic. Of course, that will run you an extra $70K.

Unable to compare value as
Would like to own a 5167 Would not like to own a 5905 The 5167 is thinner doesn’t require dealing with additional date adjustments if it is worn in rotation Water resistant Extreme legibility Easy to sell if you have a change of heart down the road. 5905 Complication for the sake of complication?

always always 5167, but given the option a 5164 would be best.

I have both and the 5905 is large. I contemplated trading it due to size but have had a difficult time letting it go. I love the 5167…very sporty but very casual. Very different watches, but both great.

I finally got a 5212A after begging for 2 years from the day I got my 5905P...What should be a reasonable ask for my next piece? |
