I've come across one as well- it's really unnerving.

Let's say I buy a grey market Rolex, it seems to be authentic, but I want to be sure. It's still under warranty (assuming it's real).

What can a Rolex Service Centre do for free (or low cost) during the warranty period - something which would be enough to get peace of mind the watch is genuine?

Thank you.
There are actually a couple things you can do. Part of the warranty specs include the date change happening within a couple(?) minutes of midnight. And contemporary 32xx movements with date functions are known to have an issue where the date change happens well outside that window. Rolex will cover this issue under warranty, and if I recall correctly, they end up removing quite a few parts to adjust it. I doubt they get very far if the movement is counterfeit.

That said, as the watches you're interested in are OP41s, you may not have that opportunity. The most you can do is hope for low amplitude or some other timekeeping issue, something outside of the +/- 2 sec/day range covered under warranty.

Buy the seller!

Not really accurate .

If the watch has anything about it that is not authentic Rolex will refuse service or list exactly what must be changed to satisfy their criteria.

I once found lint on the dial of my 116610LV Hulk. Was in LA, so took it to the now closed RSC Beverly Hills. They took it in, cleared the lint, pressure tested it and face it back same day … no charge.
