Sounds like typical cold feet when AD finally calls to offer but you’re aware prices are dropping and you’re afraid of “losing money.” You obviously liked it enough to wait multiple years and if you don’t take it, that’s probably your last call from the AD unfortunately.

Just go over there and put it on and see what you think. Worst case you just don’t buy it. But if you really want it - the anxiety will pass once you do it.

As much as I hate to lose big $$ on all the watches I bought grey since Covid, I do hope we get back to a time when you could have a great lunch with a couple of drinks and then stop by a full stocked AD, browse the models and dials and then walk out with something without all that needless “The Call” drama.

At this price point once must factor it in…not the deciding factor but a contributing factor

I bought my Daytona Ceramic black in 2019 for $21k grey market at its peak at that time with no intention of it going up but I also knew it won’t go below 20

With dramatic drops in sought after pieces one has to consider it especially at this price point.

I do appreciate the reverse psychology 🤪

If it makes you feel better I paid a lot more for my black DaytonaC than $21k which was not the peak at all. I think you’re still in the money slightly on this watch at retail so get it if you want and if you change your mind just sell it asap

When I bought my first Rolex in 1994, and even this past week when I bought my latest, I did so recognizing it’s a watch, to be worn, enjoyed. Never once did I consider what the future value would be, always knowing in the back of my mind that it would be considerably less than what I paid.
This investment mentality of today is genuinely absurd.

Agree.

OP, you don’t want it enough. Should just pass on it. I got mine new at a discount and would still pay today’s price.

Sometimes the watch wears you and the DD is such a work of art it’s a bit intimidating
So why did you put your name down in the first place? This is exactly what caused the hysteria. Everyone 'wanting' a watch when unavailable, but in reality just wanted to be on a list.

The question isn't whether the market will soften and we'll return to the good old days, it's whether you want the watch or not.

Everything else is just white noise.

After much reflection I am getting it today!
The daydate has been the one watch I have always to complete out the collection
When the watch was first introduced I loved it but finances were not supporting a purchase even when it was around 30k on the black market
The culmination of me turning 40, hitting career and financial goals has put me in the position to get the piece without affecting my life
The cold feet came from the actually pulling the trigger, the final gasp before saying “I do”

The market and watch collecting hobby has indeed intertwined over the last few years and anyone who denies it is kind of being naive - regardless, that is not why I am buying the watch - I don’t plan on selling it

It’s more of timing the purchase as these hyper pieces are becoming more available and will continue to do so in the next 12-24 months

Either way - incoming post coming soon

I've owned this piece 4x over the past 6 years. It's a beautiful piece and can't go wrong.

Secondary prices are not that bad. Buy now and enjoy today if it's something you are keen on.
