I tried to get my DJ sent in for a waranty claim.

On my SS DJ, the crown easily crossthreads compared to my other DJ's. It screws in fine when you find it, but if you pop the crown out enough to adjust the time it often catches and cross threads giving you the feel that it is completely screwed in when in fact it isn't. Once this happens I have to unscrew and rescrew a couple of times to get it back in right. Too bad it didn't break when I brought it into my AD. Has this happened to anyone else here? And is it covered by warranty? The watch is only 5-6 months old.

Hasn't happened with any of mine. I always push the crown in, rotate it counterclockwise until I feel the threads engage, then screw it in. What happened when you tried to send yours in for a warranty repair?

It wouldn't do it lol. I tried 3 times and it wouldn't break at the service counter. I sat down in my computer chair and as I am typing now it happened again. Screwing it counterclockwise while pushing down then turning clockwise tends to work properly.

It is a SS/WG, the bezel and a few other parts are white gold. I would imagine the crown, bezel, hands, and the detail on the dial are WG.

Yes then that is unusual. The 18k gold crown is of course soft metal and they cross thread way too easy.

I push the crown in while reversing the crown, until I feel it "click"...which tells me I can start to tighten the crown down on the threads. Hope that helps.

I've noticed from all my experience with Rollies that this problem exists ONLY with the Twinlock crown.....not always, but it does happen sometimes. Try and use your thumb flat against the crown, push in striaght and then turn. It might work.

Never had this problem with the Triplock crowns.

Had the same problem on my GMT II.Started after 4 years.Did not even use the crown much, because it was worn daily so no manual winding, just now and then for time setting.Rolex weak point ?? Maybe Panerai does not have this problem ...

How can it? The Panny has a crown and guard that looks like a friggin' hand-grenade!!

Just a problem for ham fisted watch owners who haven't spent enough time working with machinery....

With any watch with a screw down crown the best way to get it right is by using a little foreplay, never fails.

LOL I take it you've never dealt with the microscopic crown on a GMT transitional. You need to have the hands of a 4 year old to even unscrew the thing.

Just my 16750 and the super fine threads of my Seiko MarineMaster.

It's all in listening to your finger tips.
