I'm much more familiar with the DD but it looks to me like the second hand is not right. The watch looks like it has seen use so if it is indeed a fake it is a good fake. What is the serial number and model number supposed to be? Most no date submariners are not chronometers none supposedly this old are.

Absolute fake IMHO , I believe dial should say : Swiss T-25 , do not think the hour markers are lined out around the luminous part.etc..
Wait till Steven sees this ... |

Look at the font...Look at the m in the depth rating...The tail on the m doesn't exist on the OP's watch and the font spacing appears to be off in the word SUBMARINER.... I'm no expert, but this looks very wrong to me.

Don't get me wrong and no offense meant but if this is for sale somewhere it would be good if you can post the link for us to check it out rather than you just throw up pictures and we critique something which you may be offering for sale......you will probably get more help if we know what is going on.....

It is a bit on the rude side to ask questions about a piece and then disappear, maybe your name says it all....

The story ends like this...
There are shops that will do pretty good forgeries. Maybe not perfect but pretty good forgeries. There are dozens of these enterprises and some are so good that lacking provenance and papers, one should be extremely careful of lucky souls who come out of nowhere with banged up DRSDs. Check one of these outfits out: ***URL DELETED AT REQUEST OF 3 MEMBERS*** Note: I deleted this and not the moderator. And that's the rest of the story! |

Thanks for that warning but I think it's very relevant for folks here to know that there are some very very good forgeries made from 100% real Rolex parts given that there are people who are selling $100K vintage watches. The point is --- one can easily "age" a forged watch and folks should know what they should be cautiously looking for. Without a reference to such existing forgery sites, folks will operate and opine without full information.
If mod wants to take this out, I'll happily delete but I think given this is the watch out furom, it would be wrong to do so... but that is just my single opinion. Quote:

First, it's not my company. I am a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. I deal in companies that build and create value, not stealing value.
Second, it's short sighted to keep our eyes closed to the dangers around us and to see who the enemy is. But it is a community and if people do not want to see where these fakes are coming from and who is making them and how they do it and what to watch out for, then I will delete it or rather I am requesting the moderator to delete it and if people are interested they can research on their own. Dear Mr Moderator, please delete the URL of the prior post. NOTE: I voluntarily deleted the URL in question. Thanks, S |

Honestly , do you really think we need people to promote these sites here , there are many members here putting in a lot of their spare time to spot the fakes being sold to the unwitting punter . The last they want is having a "member" waste their time on spotting what is fake on a watch when the OP knows exactly what it is .
There are plenty of other sites dedicating to glorify those fakes . Personally I can only feel sorry for those people . |
