Cold watch=cold hands?

Does anybody think that a cold temperature watch will decrease the warmth of your hands?

Random.

And no, I don't think so. When I put on a cold necklace, it warms up. Not the other way around.

The necklace/watch/whatever is warming up because your body is passing heat energy to it.

Heat energy passes from a warm object to a cooler object, thus heating it.

I remember my high school physics lessons.

The OP's question should be:

"Does anybody think that a cold temperature watch will decrease the warmth of your hands -SIGNIFICANTLY-?"

... That doesn't mean it will cause someone's hand to feel colder.

Firstly, the OP said "decrease the warmth of your hands".

You bring up a valid point though - would it be significant enough for us to care?

That is why I suggested we add the qualifier "significantly" to the discussion. Will hands become -significantly- colder?

In the vast majority of instances, the temperature of the watch won't be cold enough to make the process of reaching thermal equilibrium noticeable to the wearer.

Interesting question (and kinda random).

In a practical way, no. The watch will be warmed up by the arm, and a fresh supply of warm blood will help recover that energy that was transferred to the watch (and surroundings, of course). How is the environment's temperature? Ok, ok, thinking too much about this question.

Short answer, as it has been said, not in a significant way, unless it's cold outside, but cold hands in that case are not to be blamed on a cold watch.

Adam, is this a problem common in Canada, or something you personally have encountered?
